"OH MY GOSH!!!! MADDIEE!! GUESS WHAT!!" my best friend yells in my ear over the phone. I know what she's about to say due to the fact that she only hyperventilates to the name of one band in particular.

Before I can even respond she blurts out what she has been holding in for all of two minutes,"We are GOING TO BE ONE DiRECTION'S BACKGROUND DANCERS!!!!!" All I do is sit there in shock. There is no way. Erica was a good no GREAT dancer, but I was not good at all! Also I had never thought about taking my love of dancing professionally. This was a brand new idea and I was frightened as hell.

I just now became aware that Erica was saying my name over and over again through the phone. I couldn't answer her or say anything. My mouth just hung agape. She soon started yelling for me to say something back but being too frightened, I hung up. I quickly sent her a text to tell her to come right over. After doing so, I put my iphone down on my bedside table and covered myself with the sheets on my bed allowing me to think.

Less than five minutes later, Erica was poking me and telling me to get out of bed.

"Erica, I don't know if I can dance in front of One Direction," I gasp as I come out of the comforter. She looks at me in complete shock. She stays quiet allowing me to go on.

"I can't move out of the country so suddenly and work with One Direction! I'm not that kind of person to jump at something like that. How did they even find out about us? What if the see our dancing in person and think it's terrible and send us back home? I can't leave, I just cant.." I say trailing off.

Erica comes around my bed and gives me a comforting hug. "I sent that video of us dancing three weekends ago. They emailed me and told me we were good and they wanted us to be their backup dancers. Come on Mads, I know you want too!" She looks me in the eyes and that's when I realize, I do want to.

It took barely any convincing on her part because I did want to go and try something new. Since I never take chances, why don't I start now?

The night before I was leaving, I wanted to make sure my mom knew I was leaving and never coming back.

This I dreaded because I knew she might start yelling and throwing things. So at dinner I decided to just get it over with.

I cleared my throat to get my mother's attention. She looked up and instantly I knew she was sober. "I want you to.. know I won't be here tomorrow.." I start off nervously. She gave me a confused look so I continue.

"I got a job in England and I will be moving there with Erica as a backup dancer for One Direction," I stated trying to look calm.

Before I knew it my mom had thrown her plate across the room and was standing on the table screaming terrible things at me. This isn't the first time she's ever done anything like this. I'm used to this by now.

I let her blow off some steam by letting her run around the house screaming like a mad man until, after a good ten minutes I told her it was time to stop.

After I told her that, I knew it was a dreadful mistake. She stopped what she was doing and came directly at me with her hands in a fist. Before I could duck in time I was smashed in the face with her tightly compacted fists.

I gasped in shock and stumbled back at the impact. I touched my face softly on the pounding part of my cheek that has just been hit. I stared wide eyed at my mom in disbelief as she wispered in my ear, "Goodbye Maddie," before passing out into the bedside table and lamp.

I stood there holding my cheek and staring at the woman I call my mother ashamed.

I decided that the best thing to do is leave early so I decided to ring up Erica.

"Hey babe! What's going on?" she asked excitedly.

"Well..." I started "I told my mom that we were leaving and she got pissed. She started running around, breaking things and yelling crap in my face. So I told her to stop and calm down. She didn't appreciate that so she took a blow to my face." I ended the story.

Erica was silent for only but a moment before speaking.

"Well leave the house early and come to my place for the night! We can have a movie marathon!" she squealed.

I was so relieved she invited me over. "Thanks hun! I'll be over in five minutes. Love ya!"

I sighed happily as I tap the 'end' button. She really is the sister I never had.
