-Flashback Extra Long Don’t Complain-

It was college and I was among the most popular girls in the school. Nobody knew about my secret love for video games and YouTube. Nobody knew about my anxiety attacks and severe depression. Only one person knew about the cuts that lay on my hip. Me.

I decided one day to see who was really my friends and wear one of my Team Crafted minecraft shirts and a pair of denim skinny jeans, with my black joggers. Today, there was no pink converse, there were no short skirts and tight strapless shirts that showed my curves perfectly. I tied up my hair and left my fringe down. I wasn’t leaving my hair down and bothering to curl it today. They could get fucked. I grabbed my gold prescription ray bans and slipped them on. Today I wasn’t going to jab my eye in the name of popularity. I made a quick decision to put on some eye liner and mascara. I didn’t feel the need to wear shit loads of makeup today. I added to the effect last night by dying my hair back to its natural colour and adding red to the ends.

Being me, dressing down felt wrong. I was a self-conscious person. I walked into school and the hallways filled with pointing fingers and whispers. I ignored it and put in my earphones. Something I never did around school. Ever.  It felt good that’s for sure. I could tell what a lot of people were saying about me by lip reading.

‘Is she new? What a nerd’

‘Ugly nerd. I’m glad that’s not us’

I sighed. Why did I do this again? I should have known this was going to happen. I fished an iced coffee from my bag. I opened it and headed to my locker. I finished my iced coffee and threw it the 10 metres to the bin like I normally do. People stared at me. I smirked and before they could question it opened my locker and shoved my bad inside. Being sure to double check it was locked before walking away. I pulled out one earphone and turned down the volume a little. I looked at the classroom I had home room in and pushed open the door. I quickly stole a glance at my so called friends who were surrounding a table. I put my head down and walked to the back of the room and took a seat at my normal seat. I listened as the room fell almost dead silent when I sat in my seat. Almost silent. Almost. The sound of clicking heels approached me and I looked up to be greeted by Tiffany, my so called best friend.

“Who are you nerd? Why are you sitting in Chelsea’s seat?” She said.

I smirked and laughed under my breath.

“Are you new or something? You will not find any friends here ugly go somewhere else or I will make your life a living hell.” She continued.

I laughed louder this time. “Fuck off Tiffany.” I said with ease. It felt good.

“Excuse me!” She almost shouted. She ripped my earphone out of my ear and bent down next to me. “You wait until Chelsea gets here. She will kill you for sitting in her seat. I’d move. I don’t want me friend catching nerd germs.”

“Oh really now?” I said as she stood up again. I felt a ball of paper hit the side of my head and I ignored it. I slid off my glasses and relaxed a bit into my seat, propping my legs up on my desk. “You are right Tiff; no one wants to catch nerd germs.” I said. She almost fell over with recognition.

“Ew, Chelsea stay the fuck away from us. No one likes a nerd. Don’t bother hanging out with us again and I want my best friend’s necklace back.” She said.

I laughed and pulled out the necklace from my pocket. I threw it towards the bin and it got in first go. “Get it if you want it, whore” I said.

-Flashback over-

That’s why I am stuck working in a small computer store, and also why I don’t have friends to this day. I hopped into my car and drove the 10 minute trip home.

(A/N I warned you!!)
