I was unable to fathom what I had encountered yesterday, inwardly debating that finding a job far away from the local community would be a good idea.

Although, that would require a car or at least a general knowledge of the bus routes around the town which sadly was a luxury that I didn't have at the moment.

Thus, I applied for a job at a local library branch. It didn't seem likely that many students would be hanging around here.

Needless to say, I was accepted quite quickly after my interview due to the blatant shortage of workers. It wasn't a very new library which would explain the old beige brick walls of the exterior.

My first day at work was not at all what I had originally predicted. Tara, the desk attendant, was uncommonly helpful with my abundant amount of questions involving the books and checking out procedures.

I brushed a loose strand of brown hair out of my face before visibly frowning when my glasses begun to slide down my nose. I frankly didn't comprehend how people were able to wear these contraptions on a daily basis. Perhaps mine were too large, but it kept repeatedly falling, thus forcing me to push it back up.

Not to mention, the thick frames blocked my vision, severely narrowing my peripheral view at school. However, it was nice to be able to lurk in the shadows without drawing attention to myself.

I couldn't shake out the image of what happened to that ill-fated girl though. I noticed that she was in my AP English with Mia, typically sitting in the middle, trying to draw as little interest to her as possible.

However, I could detect the almost imperceptible looks of hostility radiating off some of the jocks when they spotted her in the hallways.

I wondered how shooting death looks at someone would change the chances of how your team or you played this season. If it did, wouldn't I have been the star player of the Debate Club?

Sighing, I turned around to move the cart to another section. The Teen's Corner was finally finished with organizing and it was time to roll myself into the Children's. I could almost feel the bundle of energy that was exerted her on a daily basis. There were some small  spills on the carpets which was probably why a huge, laminated, shiny sign that spelt 'NO FOOD ALLOWED' on the walls.

As I made my way around the corner, something moved by in the edge of my peripheral vision. I for one, knew it was definitely not Tara, since she was camped on her desk.

Now let me explain to you how odd this was. For one, it was nine o'clock in the morning on Saturday which most people would be relaxing or lounging in bed. Another thing was, the library wasn't even open until another hour.

It honestly better not be a burglar, because morning is a terrible time to rob a place. Not to mention, it was a library. What could you possibly want from here? Used computers and books that you could find anywhere else?

I grit my teeth before turning my head towards the movement, quickly scanning the area before spotting a mess of dark, tousled hair.

A glimmer of sea coloured eyes greeted me.

It was Kaiden West.

Statistics started to form in my head as I recalled what Mia had informed me and what my brother Connor ranted about the other night at dinner.
