No, Nope how did this end up happening, Lucy thinks to herself. she was at a beauty parlor getting her nails done, her feet in a bin where a small Asian woman was delicately rubbing and scrubbing away between her toes. The parlor was a bright pink color, almost hot pink. Her head was covered in foil along with the scent of bleach.

" So how does it feel darling." the older yet elegant woman asks her. Lucy gives a confident smile, but feels nervous.. Jesus, what went wrong today?

Earlier that same day...

" Look I can't go today, I have the bug." Lucy coughs into the phone. she had been feeling unwell the night before, and ended up wanting to spend the day at home, holed up by herself dying. she had a hard time convincing Francis and Emily that she couldn't be bothered by going out for tea and going to a game.

" then we can come over and make you soup." they said.

" No it's okay, I'll be fine I promise. i just need to be alone and sleep. You guys go on." she pleaded. After some more talk they gave up tired and worried, but ultimately trusted her decision.

" Well call if you need something." after she had promised she would, they hung up. Sighing Lucy threw her phone down, and went to the couch. Wrapping herself in a pink blanket she cuddled inside the cocoon. She let her mind go blank as she started to drift off into sleep, when she heard the faintness knock. She ignored the knock until it become more aggressive. Lucy groaned, as she ruffled her fading blue hair and yawned as she looked at the peephole. A tall elegant looking woman stood outside the door. She expected it to be anyone but the woman.

She could faintly see the woman's green bright eyes, her big blonde hair was on top of her head, in a bun. Her outfit was chic and a very monochromatic style of white with black on the outline and the buttons. Her face was long but poised. sighing, Lucy open the door with the lock chain still in place.

" Who is it?" she asked.

" Won't you let me in." the voice commanded. the bold voice sent a chill up her spine. Something about the way she commanded and had not asked her to come in was unsettling. After a few second she looked into the green eyes. her face was really built, in a sense. one could faintly see any wrinkle, but with a style so outdated, she could tell she was old. Perhapps in her mid 40s -50s.

" Tell me who you are first." Lucy rose to her boldness. She noticed the eyes had raked through her appearance.

Her ruffled hair was blonde and blue now from the fading color, along with her fluffy hello kitty bottom and a casual white t-shirt with no bra made her feel under dressed but not that intimidated. She had done worse before, this Lucy was well aware of.

" Oh dear, you must have heard of me by now." the older woman laughed. Lucy shrugged and smiled at her laugh.

" Your Nate's Mom." she concluded.

" So you have heard of me."

" Your laugh gave it away." Lucy emoted, opening the door. she lead the woman inside onto the living room.

" My laugh?" she asked as she came inside and inspected the room. It was clean with hardly much furniture.

" Yup, your laugh."

" You are a quiet child, just like the report said," The woman whispered lowly, but not low enough.

Sitting on the couch, and Lucy on a chair, they sit quietly. Lusy adjust her tongue peircing as she settles. Folding her legs beneath one another, the woman grows more comfortable.

" Well, i suppose introduction should be made. I am Nathaniel's mother,Sheila Deveraeux." Sheila takes off her white satin gloves. And fixes a small loose hair strand. the creamy colored suit is quite expensive and smells new.

" right, I'm Lucille, but I prefer Lucy. Look it's nice to meet you but I'm not in the mood to be meeting my ex boyfriends mom today." she insisted.

" Well what you need young girl is a day of relaxation."

" Was trying to get there today."

" Not this way, a real relaxing day is spent at the spa, darling." her accent gave her chills. a frosty yet assertive tone places lucy on edge. She curls her fingers into the chair. This woman is serious.

Lucy looks down at her arms full of her tattoos. The top of her shoulder to her elbow is covered in a flurry of flowers, along with a small hummingbird in the middle drinking the nectar from the water colored flowers. She feels exposed, along with her eyebrow and nose piercing and dangling ear piercing.

" It's nice to think that way when one has money but I'm kinda not so rich, so thanks for the suggestions." Lucy admits shyly.

" Well nonsense of course I was inviting you, and I will simply not take no for an answer." she determinedly spoke. Her voice isn't determined more like assertive and pushy, which is starting to make Lucy anxious.

After she had said this though an array of things had happened, Sheila gently told her to go change to something decent for an outing and then she got into a black BMW, and then went to a fancy spa which was in the higher upper part of the city.  Where she told to undress and then the rest was a blur. Up until now, where her feet were soaking in warm water, and her hair was being bleached, her tattoos kept attracting attention but she had been told to remove her body jewelry so she felt more strange without them on.

" Now isn't this quite more relaxing than being cooped up at home?" Sheila asked Lucy. She herself was getting a pedicure and manicure along with a facial.

" I guess so, but did I really need to remove my peircings?"

" Why of course. The jewelry could infect your skin, this place is specifically persevered for those of the highest standards. "

" So what did he tell you?" Lucy ask her eventually while some man takes off the foil. She can feel her hair gently coming undone from the foil, and her head is being lane down near the sink to rinse it off. The young man seriously washes her hair, paying no mind to the women's conversation.

" My son has never been fond of anyone who I tried i set him up with. But then here he comes in one day, fresh with a smile and he says,' I've found the most amazing girl, and she makes me ridiculously happy. you wouldn't believe your eyes.' " she says.

" So that's untrue. What really happened?" Lucy can ell her voice was too high pitched and stretched.

" Tell me how you knew I was his mother. Few ever believe me when I show up."

" You laugh the same way. it's closely similar and your noses are very similar, you both scrunch up your nose, especially when you  laugh. You both have the same laugh, obnoxious but humorous and deep." The young man brings a book with shades, and Lucy picks one as he then goes away to bring the color.

" No one has ever told me that. Except my mother." Shelia whispers.

" Well its true, Nate takes after you a bit."

It's silent as the man comes back and starts to slather the color onto the hair. He continues and then wraps it back in foil. Lucy sits in the chair with the fluffy white robe as her feet soak and a woman massages her shoulders. A rose aroma spreads in the building as she has her hair washed once more, she then goes to change.

The way back to her apartment is silent until she reaches her building. Sheila breaks the silence, " He's a good man, my son. Much better than anyone you will ever meet. i may have had a hard marriage but he is a good man. I've read your file, and he could make you happy."

" Your thoughtful and full of good intentions for Nate. But just the way you both laugh, you both see things as things you can have. You don't think of the other. person. Just like when you sabotaged your own marriage and cheated on your husband." Lucy said. She left the car and went to her place. Placing her eyebrow and nose piercing back on, she looked down at her foot. Inside her foot was a few simple words This too shall pass
