"two more days of hell and we're out for summer." clementine giggled, sliding her backpack off her shoulder and onto the floor beside her chair.
i nodded my head, sliding my books onto my desk, pulling down my skirt before taking a seat.
"hopefully my mom will let me stay out after sunset. we're 15! we deserve freedom!" she spoke with passion, her fist in the air.
"my mom would call the police if i wasn't home a minute after sunset. she won't let me stay out." i shook my head at the girl with extremely high hopes.
"what about if you're with henry? he's older? he would protect you." she winked, shimmying her shoulders.
"my mom doesn't like him." i shrugged, seeing her smile drop.
"well most people don't." she spoke truthfully. speaking cautiously, like it would hurt my feelings.
i've heard it all before. it's nothing new. they just don't see what i see in him.
"anyways..." she trailed off. i could hear the awkwardness in her voice. she didn't know what to say.
i sat beside her, staring at the clock, hoping the hand would tick by faster. two days. that's it. two more days until i could spend the whole summer outside, reading in the sun.
"fuck you and your ugly mullet!!" my head whipped to the door. a kid with black hair and huge glasses fell into the room, right onto his stomach.
richie? i think thats what the teacher called him. most people just knew him as trashmouth. he sure did have a mouth bigger than his body.
"what the fuck dude." he groaned, pushing his glasses back onto the bridge of his nose, from where they had previously fallen.
i pushed my seat back, hearing it screech against the floor. beginning to stand up. i should probably help him up.
clementine grabbed my arm. before i could take a step away from my seat, causing me to turn my head around. i looked at her with my eyebrow raised.
"don't. it will just make henry mad." she sighed, pulling my arm a little harder. causing me to take a seat once again, my eyes not leaving him.
"he shouldn't be picking on him like that. he's a sophomore just like us." i sighed, pushing my hair behind my ears.
"probably wants to feel a sense of power. being the son of a police officer probably makes him feel weak." she sighed. i nodded my head slowly, resting my head on my hand, which was propped up by my elbow on the hard desk.
soon enough a group of boys walked into the room, helping richie up. watching him dust off his shirt and find a desk. slumping down immediately.
the only boy i knew the name of was bill. his brother died a while back. you could tell he wasn't the same person as he used to be. his always had a puppy dog effect.
he averted his eyes from the stares and whispers of the girls in the classroom and grabbed a seat beside a boy with curly hair. placing his bag on the back of the chair smoothly, before turning back around.
