*Selena’s POV*
After breakfast we all sat down the couch and they were all talking when I had to rudely interrupt Justin in the middle of the conversation he was having with his friends. But, I needed to. I needed to go somewhere private because I knew what was coming soon and I wanted to be alone.
“Justin,” I whispered into his ear. “Can I go up to your room?”
“Yeah, sure. Is something wrong?” He asked worried.
“No, I’m fine. I just want to go get changed.” I was already getting an aura though. My head was starting to hurt, I was feeling dizzy, and I needed to throw up. Not to mention that I probably looked super pale like I always did right before.
“Selena you don’t look so good.” He shook his head nervously. And before I knew it I was in his arms going up the stairs.
“Just lay me down on the bed, I’ll be fine. And leave.” I said. I was so embarrassed to let him see me like this. And it was stupid that I was telling him to leave, it’s his room.
But I can already tell what was about to happen.
*Justin’s POV*
Selena had asked me to go upstairs but she didn’t look so good. She looked scared and nervous and she was super pale. I carried her up the stairs and laid her down on the bed like she had told me to.
Suddenly I saw Selena. She was stiff and she was shaking and I honestly didn’t know what to do. I didn’t even want to touch her because I was scared that I might hurt her.
“Dad!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. I heard loud footsteps and he came running into my room and his eyes bulged out of his face when he saw Selena lying there helpless.
“Call her mom.” My dad said.
“Her mom? Why not 911?” I asked.
“Call her mom. Now.” He said sternly. I got Selena’s phone and looked for her mom’s number but before that I saw that her mom had texted her.
‘I better not get a call from them freaking out. You better go home and drink your medication, Selena Marie.’
I then called her mom and she answered on the second ring. “Selena?” She asked.
“Hi, this is Justin. I really don’t know what’s happening with Selena but I just thought I should call you to see if you knew.” I said in a panicked tone.
“Ok Justin calm down, she’s just having a seizure.” Selena’s mom replied calmly. I was shocked though… a seizure? “Just wait for it to pass by and it will soon. And please go easy on her when she’s done, she usually gets really embarrassed by it.”
“O-ok.” I replied. “Is she gonna be ok? Isn’t this bad? Can’t she die?” I was scared, I had never dealt with this before and from what I had heard seizures were usually bad.
“She’s gonna be ok. She just didn’t take her medication this morning and it usually gets really bad if she doesn’t take it.”
I turned around and saw that Selena was trying to calm her breathing down and she looked a little disoriented. I handed the phone to my dad as I tried to calm her down.
“Hey Sel.” I smiled. I didn’t know what else to do. And I didn’t want to make her feel bad or embarrassed.
“I-I’m sorry, I should go now.” She said as she slowly sat up.
“Selena, it’s ok. It’s fine, there’s nothing to be embarrassed about.” I tried my hardest to calm her down and rubbed her back.
My dad handed me Selena’s phone again. “Her mom says that she’ll be home in a little to make sure Selena’s ok.” My dad stated before walking out, obviously to let me and Selena talk alone for a little bit.
“You called my mom?” Selena groaned.
“What else was I supposed to do?! My dad told me to!” I quickly defended.
“I’m sorry.” She whispered as she put her head on my shoulder.
“Don’t be sorry. I just wished you would have warned me. It would have saved me from almost having a heart attack.” I chuckled and I heard her softly laugh.
*Selena’s POV*
I was so embarrassed to have to deal with this in somebody else’s house. I had dealt with it before but it was at my best friend, well now ex best friend’s house and I knew that she wouldn’t judge. But this is Justin Bieber we were talking about right now.
We sat there in silence after laughing and Justin spoke up again. “So what exactly do you have?” He asked curiously.
“I have epilepsy.” I sighed. “My seizures are really bad even if I go a few hours without taking pills. Sometimes even with the pills I’ll have seizures, it’s just more controlled. I spent half my life in a hospital room.”
“So you’ve had this since you were a baby?” He asked shocked.
“Yup, pretty much. It was due to a brain injury when I was born. Doctors thought it would go away after two seizures but obviously it didn’t and they told my parents I had epilepsy when I was like four years old.” I explained.
“Aren’t seizures like… you know… like, can’t they kill you?” He asked.
“Yes. A lot of times they thought I wouldn’t make it but I’m here. It’s just embarrassing.” I sighed.
“Don’t be embarrassed, this isn’t your fault.” He reassured me and kissed the top of my head.
“Thanks, it’s just hard. Usually I’d have Baylor, my dog with me and he’d bark right before I’d get a seizure just to warn my parents.”
“You’re so strong, Selena.” He smiled.
“Thanks, I’m really not but thank you. I’m sorry I scared you and your dad like this. I’ll be sure to have my medicine with me at all times from now on.” I softly laughed.
“Yes, please. I hate seeing you like that.” He said.
“I hate feeling like this.” I rolled my eyes. “And I’ll probably get in trouble when I get home but it’s ok, I’ll blame it all on you.”
“You’re funny.” He replied sarcastically and I playfully glared at him. “I’m just kidding, it’s worth it.” He smiled and brought my lips to meet his. I can’t believe it but I was actually falling for him.
