TeenTitans #1: The Forgotten Son

Part 6

While Raven and Arella slowly force their way through hordes of demons, Robin and the monks of Azarath fight the hordes close behind as they all battle their way toward Makuta's fortress. "Keep fighting, we're pushing through!" Robin yelled, striking another one down with his staff. Suddenly Kronos comes in from behind and smashes Arella into the ground. "Mother!" Raven yelled as she immediately flew down after them. As Arella gets up, Kronos smiles and says "this fight is meaningless, you're all going to die!" "Not if I've got anything to say about it!" Raven muttered as she threw him back with her magic. In a fit of rage, Kronos lunges in again at Arella but Raven quickly joins in as all become locked in a fierce battle.

As Robin strikes another demon down, one grabs him from behind and throws him to the ground. He tries to get up but the demon lunges at him again. In a total panic, Robin quickly puts up his staff and it's now the only thing keeping him away from its sharp claws and teeth. "A little help!" he muttered as he began losing his grip. Suddenly Saren turned around and fired a blast of dark magic at the demon. As the horrid and now lifeless creature falls down, Saren quickly helps Robin to his feet. "Thanks, Saren" Robin said, catching his breath. "Your gratitude is most welcomed, but we got bigger problems" Saren replies with concerned. Before Robin could even ask, Kronos comes crashing down beside them. As Arella then flew down after him and continued her attack, Raven flies in next to Robin and said "where's Makuta!?" "I lost sight of him... I think he's got Corinna" Saren quickly replied with fear in his eyes. Still trying to process everything that's now happening before her, Raven looks at Saren and Robin then says "help Arella and the other monks hold off these creatures." "And where the hell are you going?" Robin asks. "I'm going to take out their leader, I'm gonna kill that piece of filth!" Raven replied in a cold tone. Before Robin can even reply, Raven flies back into the air searches for her wretched and lost brother.

As Makuta rises higher and higher into the air, Corinna desperately tries to break free from his grip. "Let me go!" she shouted and pleaded in terror. "As you wish" Makuta whispered as he throws her onto the tower of his fortress. As he then lands next to her and begins approaching, Corinna spits the blood from her mouth and uttered "is that all you got!?" "Hold still, you little cretin" Makuta growled, grabbing ahold of her again. "You wanna piece of me, you wanna PIECE!?" she yelled, trying to blast him with her only freed hand. "No, I want... two!" Makuta shouts as he suddenly pierces Corinna's torso and chest with his razor-blade claws and literally rips her body in half. "MAKUTA!" a voice cried out that soon echoed all around him. He then looks down to see Raven flying straight up for him with eyes beaming red like fire. "Sister, finally... a real fight!" Makuta said with glee as he drops Corinna's now torn carcass and dives down after her.

They clash like a storm in mid-air and begin to hit each other relentlessly with dark magic until Makuta finally grabs ahold of Raven and immediately throws her against the ground. As she gets back up, Makuta stands above her and says "I gave you the chance and yet you've sided with humanity and the wretched Azarathians. Now, they will all die because you!" "Not gonna happen, I'll never stop fighting!" Raven replies as she shoots him back with her magic. Makuta quickly blocks much of Raven's attack then lunges forward grabbing her and saying "then you'll die with them!" He then tosses her across the dirt then pulls out his blade staff as Raven got to her feet. "JOIN THEM IN EXTINCTION!" he yelled as magic from the shadow crystal surges through the staff and it fires a blast of pure dark energy.

In a spit second, Raven quickly dodges to the side and barely escapes the blast. "Brother, why are you doing this!?" she then shouted. "You'll find out soon enough, sister!" Makuta replies with a demented grin as he lunges at her and they become locked in a fierce battle. At first, they look evenly matched but Makuta's knowledge and power soon begin to appear far greater than Raven's own abilities. Suddenly he charges in again with claws glowing with dark energy, Raven immediately uses her magic to form a barrier but Makuta breaks right through and tackles her to the ground. He then grabs her with his magic and starts tossing her around the dirt like a ragdoll. Beaten and barely conscious, Raven laid against the ground trying to regain focus as Makuta stood over her with a smile and says "the story of Raven ends here!"
