You had been in the cab on the way back from the store when you saw it. A little sign in the window of a book store about a block from Baker Street. A help wanted sign. The next day you had walked down there and asked the person working what the job was and if they still wanted someone. He said yes and that the job was just another person to work the cash register and organize books. You set up an interview for the next day at 2.
Now, you were frantically running around your flat trying to get ready. The outfit you chose was a pair of form fitting black slacks, a navy blouse, and black flats. You took a deep breath before heading out of the flat with your resume in hand.
The interview itself went well and you were very excited and surprised at how calm you were able to be. They said they would call you in the next few days about the results.
It was now a few days later when your phone rang. You took a deep breath before accepting the call.
"Is this y/n l/n?" the voice asked.
"Y-yes. This is she," you replied, holding your breath.
"Well I'm very happy to inform you that you got the job! When can you start?" the voice asked.
"I can start on Monday," you answered excitedly.
"Wonderful. Your shift is from 8-1. We'll see you then," the voice said before hanging up.
As soon as the call ended you shrieked in excitement. You were so excited that you got up and started jumping up and down. Suddenly the door burst open and there was Sherlock and John.
"Are you ok? We were just coming back from a case when we heard you screaming," John asked worriedly.
"I'm so much more than ok! I got the job!" you exclaimed.
John's face lit up while Sherlock only rolled his eyes. You didn't notice the slight pull at the corner of his lips that signaled he was actually happy for you.
"That's wonderful y/n! We should go out and eat to celebrate! I know how much this means to you," he said.
"Oh it's ok. We don't have to. You guys probably have better things to do," you replied.
"There's an Italian place where I get discounts. We can eat there," Sherlock said.
Both John and I looked at him in shock. It was unlike him to be so friendly. It wasn't a second longer before he continued.
"It's right by a building I need to investigate for a case."
Of course. Sherlock didn't actually care about you getting the job. He just saw it as an excuse to do something for work. You tried to stop the sinking feeling you had.
"Sounds wonderful. Angelo will be please we've come back. How about we meet at 5 to head out?" John asked.
"O-ok. I'll see you guys then," you said.
John and Sherlock left your flat and closed the door behind them. You went to start getting ready. As you were searching through your closet you kept seeing things that reminded you of Sherlock. It was stupid really, developing a crush on the sociopath you barely talked to, but you couldn't help it. And you were hardly the only person who had done this. Molly, for example, knew exactly what it was like.
"Stupid....." you muttered to yourself.
You still decided to pick out one of your nicer outfits. You picked out some form fitting black jeans, a white and black striped long sleeved jacket, and a light blue denim jacket. You also picked some combat boots to go with it. As for makeup you went for some mascara, foundation, and a red lip. It was simple but nice.
You heard a knock on your door and knew it was time to go. You grabbed your phone and then opened the door. John was wearing his beige jumper and Sherlock was dressed in one of his many fancy suits with his signature jacket.
"You look nice," John said, holding out his arm for you to take.
"Thank you," you said before linking your arm in his.
John led you outside and hailed a cab. Neither of you saw the irritated look on Sherlock's face. The cab pulled up and you all got in. The drive to Angelos was quick and before you knew it you were all sitting in a window booth with menus in front of you.
"Everything here looks delicious!" you said while flipping through.
"Anything you want. It's on the house," Angelo said.
"O-oh no. I-I couldn't let you do that," you tried to say.
"Nonsense. On the house," he insisted.
".......oh all right. I'll take the Gnocchi with Alfredo sauce please," you said.
John ordered and Sherlock just sipped on his water. When the food came, John and you dove in eagerly. Sherlock only watched.
"Do you want some?" you asked him after catching him staring at your plate for the third time.
"No," he said right away.
You knew that was a lie. You took his plate and cut your plate in half, shoving one half onto his plate before handing it back.
"I said-"
"There's too much for me. I wasn't going to finish," you said.
Sherlock stares at you from across the table. You both knew you were lying, but he only sighed and picked up his fork. You smiled at the success.
As soon as dinner was over Sherlock insisted that he check out the building.
"Why don't we all go?" you suggested.
"I don't see why not," Sherlock said.
And with that you all went to the house. It was old and reeked of rotten food. Sherlock went upstairs while you and John stayed in the living room.
"Why do you think we're here?" you asked.
"I don't know honestly. Sherlock never tells me anything," John replied with a chuckle.
"I'm sure it's for a good reason. Sherlock doesn't do anything without a purpose," you said.
"That's very true," John agreed.
"I'm going to take a look around," you said before heading into the kitchen.
As you were going through all the contents in the fridge you heard a noise behind you. You figured it was just John and you were about to turn around and see when you felt a hand come over your mouth. Someone was holding a cloth onto your face and you immediately went into panic mode. You thrashed around as your vision began to blur and your began to lose consciousness.
You were out within seconds.
