Shay's Point Of View

"Morning, Shayyy," I hear Bre behind me.

"Morning, Bre Annaaaa," I say turning around.

She smiles her old, general, wonderful grin. I smile at the fact that she's okay now.

"How long are you staying?" I ask, suddenly worried about running out of time.

"As long as you want me to-" she starts.

Forever.

"Dan only packed a weekend's worth of my stuff, but I think we can get him down here."

He might kill me, but time with Bre is all that matters now.

"Great," I smile, "How's the beach sound for today?"

"Perfect," she walks over, stands on her toes, and kisses me on the cheek.

She walks away, her hips swaying without her purposely trying to make me fall for her even more. Before, she'd purposely tease me at any chance, but now, I'm just noticing the even smaller things I didn't already know about her.

"Shay, come tie this!" I hear her southern accent seep into her words and can't help but smile. I make my way to her room, after her voice plays over in my head.

I walk up behind her to tie her top, suddenly nervous about touching her in the wrong way. Which I don't see how that's possible with her. She always brushes off awkward moments with a way to laugh. I shrug off my worry and tie the strings.

"Ready?" I ask, relieved.

"Yep, let me go find your sunscreen, and we'll go."

I laugh at her motherly side, "It's in the extra bathroom in the top cabinet. I'll go wait for you in the truck."

Bre's Point Of View

As I walk down the hall, I notice many framed pictures hanging on the wall. Some of Shay, Gabby, and Erica. Some of Shay and Dan. Some of Dan and I. And then Shay and I. One picture, my favorite, was taken by a complete stranger that just happened to be walking by us. It was our first time actually going somewhere. Not to stay, but to take a break, me from being at home all the time, Shay from his music career. I walk past the memories and find the sunscreen.

Shay's Point Of View

"Bre?" I ask, wandering back into the house. Bre hadn't returned from her sunscreen search, and I was getting concerned. I find her with the sunscreen, but she'd had her head ducked down low.

"Bre?"

She rubs her eyes and glances at me. She smiles.

"Are you crying??"

"Well..yeah," she laughs quietly.

"Why?" I kneel down next to her and raise her face to my level to meet her gaze. She shakes her head, clearly trying to push the subject to be forgotten. I wrap my arms around her small figure.

"Bre..why're you crying?"

She shakes her head, a steady stream of tears trailing down her cheeks.

I look her in the eyes for a few seconds and nod in protest at her.

"I don't want it to happen again, Shay," her voice quivers.

"What, Bre?" I ask taken aback of her response.

"There's other 'perfect' girls out there, Shay. Not just Ellie."

I nod, slightly smiling, "I know."

She looks at me strangely and lays her head back down onto my chest and into the hug.

I feel her tears run to my shirt and realize she hasn't realized I was talking about her. "Bre-"

"We should go," she says while standing back up. "Okay," I sigh slightly and follow her to the truck.

Bre's Point Of View

"C'mon, Shay! We don't have all day!"

"Technically, we do," he replies.

I glare at him, "Must you?"

He chuckles and walks over to me. He slightly grabs my sides and leans close. "Yes," he whispers in my ear. I laugh at him and shove him lightly. I take his hand in mine, ready to get in the water. We splash as we try to walk with difficulty. Shay laughs at me as I push through the current. "Shoosh it, Shay!" I growl. Finally meeting the first sand bar, we search for seashells, the average thing to do. "Look at this one," Shay calls. I make my way over to see him hold a swirled shell. A tiny white pincher slips out of the shell causing Shay to shriek and throw the brown treasure. I laugh incredibly hard, holding my stomach. A huge wave comes as I'm still tumbling over Shay's crab incident. I'm taken under water a second later. I bounce up and out of the water to see Shay laughing at me. I frown. "Let's just go home." He laughs slightly at how I'm already giving up and wraps his hand around mine to help me reach shore. As we reach the dry sand, I hear distant music. "Shay!! C'mon!" I yell trying to pull him with me. He barely follows so I drop his hand and take off for the semi party going on nearby. I hear Shay's footsteps behind me. I slow down, allowing him to pass me. I jump onto his back quickly.

He gasps loudly, and I laugh.

"So..heavy," he pants. I smack his shoulder, "Rude!"

"Kidding!" He laughs picking up his pace. I wrap my legs securely around his waist as it gets harder to hold on.

I jump down, okay with walking now. Shay chuckles at me and grabs my hand. I wrap my fingers around his hand tightly. He glances at me quickly, a glint of joy in his eyes. I smile slightly and start walking with him. We arrive to the crowd momentarily and are met with the strong scent of alcohol. I bite my lip, nervous of going into the group. Shay looks at me as to ask if I actually wanted to do this. I nod hesitantly and step in. I shake away any thoughts and take a drink. It's just one. Shay begs to differ and looks at me warningly. "It's just one," I whisper.

Shay's Point Of View

"Shay, wake up!" I hear Bre groan.

"What, Bre?" I half growl. I open my eyes, blinking slowly to see Bre's small frame on top of me.

"You're too light, Bre. I didn't even know you were on me."

She laughs slightly.

"What happened?" I ask, running a hand over my face.

"Somehow, I encouraged you to drink. Otherwise, I have no clue. But we made it home safe!"

I laugh.

Bre rolls off of me and practically curls into my side. Her hand rests on my chest and I place mine on hers. Her eyes slowly flutter shut and her lips move with no words being hearable.

"What?" I ask.

"I miss you," she mutters, half asleep.

The party girl had faded away, and the real Bre was back.
