Shay's Point Of View

Bre's lip is taken into her teeth, scared of her brother, and I run my hand through my hair. Dan looks more nervous than angry, and that makes me nervous. Arms wrap around him as a slim, short pink dress appears from behind the wall. Ellie. Dan and I look immediately at Bre, her face pale, eyes glossy. Dan goes to speak, but I turn to guard her.

"In my house, Dan? I really think you've over-stayed your welcome at this point."

"Look, I was just coming by to pick up some of my stuff. I didn't even expect you two to be home yet."

I turn around to find Bre gone. I feel a second of panic before I hear something drop in my bedroom.

I run in after her to see she'd dropped a bag. Her hands hold back her hair as tears streak her face. I slowly step in, hoping she would calm down.

"Bre?"

She looks up quickly.

"When will she go away?" a choked sob leaves her mouth.

I wrap my arms loosely around her waist, and she rests her head on my chest.

I tuck her blond hair behind her ear.

"I should leave," she spoke slowly but strong.

"What?" her sudden decision startled me.

"I- I want to leave."

"But-"

"I'm sorry I said anything. I'm sorry I can't control my emotions. I'm just sorrry, Shay. I'm starting college in the fall. It's best  I go now than later. Let whatever happen with Ellie. I mean, I don't even want to be in the same state as her. I sound really ridiculous, but that's just how I feel. Let Dan stay, and be with her. I'll leave tonight, okay?"

"But, Bre, that's not right, Ellie should leave, not you."

"I'm going," she ends.

Bre's Point of View

Smiling slightly at Shay, I make my way to the bathroom to call my dad.

"Hello?"

"Hey, daddy."

"Bre, sweetheart! How's it going all the way in Tennessee?"

"I want to come home, actually."

"Oh, sweetie, your mother must've failed to contact you. We're going to Texas. My boss has trrasferred me, for the best, that is."

"So...we're moving to Texas?'"

"Indeed," he charms.

"That's great!" I smile.

"I knew you'd be glad. Neale's in Houston, and we've discussed you staying with him for college."

"Thank you so much, daddy. I'll be homelate tonight, love you!"

I hang up and walk to Shay's room to pack my things. My mood has changed drastically. I find my way into the room to find Shay sitting on the bed.

"Hey," I slightly smile, sitting next to him and resting my hand on his thigh.

"Hi," he mutters.

"It's okay," I turn, still smiling, "I promise," I finish while throwing my leg over his, leaving me on his lap.

"I'll stay tonight. For you."
