the smaller, a paler boy was curled up gently in connor's lap, mindlessly moving his fingers around in a circle on his knee where the jeans had begun to fade, so his more tanned complexion showed a little bit.

they both were admittedly very tired, as it was currently 2:27am. they both decided to stay up and watch neyflix together, so nothing was new.

it was perfect, though.

the crickets chirping in the background.

the sound of voices speaking a foreign language, so they couldn't look away for very long if they didn't want to miss anything.

the way dan's hair was probably a mess now since connor had been running his fingers through it for so long now.

and how dan was too scared to get things off his chest.

"hey connor?"

"hm?"

dan almost didn't realize he let out those words. he had thought about it for a long time, but he sure didn't actually say it.

until now.

"are you, uhm, oh gosh, how do i put this? areyoucheatingonme?" he was so scared, he was afraid connor would hit him. though, connor had never done that and would never do that, so he isn't quite sure why that was the first thought.

"what?" connor scoffed. "cheating on you?
you kidding?!" connor stood up abruptly, shoving dan out of his lap.

"you'd really think i'd cheat on you?!" connor yelled, ignoring dan's demands to quite down. his parents were just upstairs, and one quick glance down here would kill him.

''do you even know me, dan?! you're saying you don't trust me enough!" connor raged, grabbing his jacket and, was that a cigarette packet and a lighter?

"c-connor, th-hats not wha-at i m-meant.." dan's stutter plus hiccups were not a good match.

"well, i'm sure whatever you meant hurt just as bad." connor replied quietly, holding his body close to the door frame before finally turning the know and shoving himself out the door.

and there dan sat: confused, tired, scared and hopeless.
