The Day It All Changes

The place, Paris France.

-On December 20th, 3439, 4:04AM scientists discovered that the world was becoming too polluted. They thought to save the world they must bring an end to the people who have caused it all...

I was only 5 at the time, when I heard the radio playing a soft song being cut off by the sound of a broadcast.

The harsh sound of the old mans voice echoed through the air as he spoke.

I listened in very closely... Its not usual for something like this to happen. To my 5 year old self, that is.

"We interrupt this program with news from the Hio NAA Group. They have concluded that the only way to save our earth is to destroy the very things that has destroyed it."

I hear my sister Bella gasp from the kitchen, where she's making food.

Bella is not the one who would react like this to something, so of course I asked what it meant...

"Sissy? What does the man mean by that?"

Bella looked horrified as she continued to listen to the man.

"Hush Mia, not now..."

Bella being the oldest at 15, knew more then I did. She was the one who would watch us while mom was gone.

And now that moms sick, like most people over 40 get. She's the boss. So I comply and shut my mouth.

"-If there is anything you can use, heed my warning, hide in it immediately. Make sure there are no holes for air to get in, or out. I repeat-"

The man was cut off by the buzzer ending the cast.

Bella jumped up, grabbing anything she could that would be 'helpful' as she said.

"Bell? What's he mean!!" I plead.

"Mia, go grab every blanket you can. Dont forget the pillows. Take them to the huge box out back. It doesn't matter if they get dirty. Just go, now!"

I scurry off into our room, picking up every blanket I see and put them into the biggest one.

Then I slowly take them out to the 'box'.

This is a huge metal crate in the back of out house that has a door. Momma bought it when I was 3 and made it my playhouse... Then she took it way.
Now its just used to store food we can't keep inside, like huge cans of pineapple.

I open it hastily as it creeks to the side. Putting the blankets in the corner I waddle back to the house to get the pillows...

I dont forget to grab my bear Tea and my puppy Leo.

Leo loved playing in the box, maybe he wants to now...

Walking back out I see Bella putting the last of her things into the small box.

"Mia hurry. Now... We can leave mom. We don't want to get sick..." She pushes in a bundle of oxygen tanks mom had laying around the house. Some where grandmas that she left before going to a farm far away.

Bella told me she'd be right back as she went inside and came out with a huge tub of water.
