Bird's chirping.
School bus engines whirring.
Kids running.
We all know what that means.
The return of the humongous facility that's designed to hold hundreds of hormone-driven teenagers. A place where we're told what to do and what not to.
A place where we do stuff that we don't naturally do at home. A place that grants us a sense of freedom.
A place where we meet friends, enemies, and potential mates.
SCHOOL.
You may not know me but probably have seen yesterday. My name's Fred Evans. But your friends call me names like, "loser", "weirdo", "dork", and the most persistent moniker, "NERD".
I live in the bustling city of Buffalo, New York. A few blocks from the largest coffee shop downtown, beside the line of large trees by Carolina.

Irritation runs through me as my stupid alarm clock wakes me with the noise of the 75 year-old Nagasaki nuclear explosion. My mom says it's too much but, what's the alternative right?
Getting lullaby-ed by sweet jazz in the morning?
Can't be.
Why?
Because unlike your regular jocks in school, I actually like to study.
I know. I know. I'm a hypocrite. But come on. What's the use of going to school everyday if you're not getting anything from it? I mean, I don't really have friends at school, and my mom won't let me stop going so, I really don't have a choice.
Got aboard the school bus. Got the worst seat.
As usual.
But there was something quite unusual when I got on the bus. A sense of calm. A feeling of slight infatuation was lingering in the air. Of course, that could only mean one thing. As I turned to my left, there she was.
Rose.
All glamorous and beautiful.
Every look on her face stops my heart for a millisecond.
Even the goofy smile on her face as she places her hand on Mary's shoulder in some shared mirth.
Flawless and perfect.
But all that disappears as someone blocks my view of her.
"HEY EVANS GET OF THE FRICKIN BUS!"
That's when I realized that we already arrived to our destination.
I unmindedly traveled a total distance of almost 2 kilometers without noticing.
As I walk up to the main hall, I noticed something.
Everyone was talking to everyone.
This is absurd because literally everyone was talking to everyone.
It seemed like a big noisy blur. An annoying mixture of summer stories and first-day gossip that would've continued until the end of the day.
That's when I remembered that this was only the second day since we got back to school. Everyone was getting back the time they lost during the summer with their friends. I, on the other hand, walk alone to my designated locker to get my textbooks.
Then, somebody calls my name out loud.
