Chapter Four: Nightmares

*Nightmare*

I was sitting on the swings with Nicole as we see three boys picking on a girl. She was crying as they pulled her into the abandoned diner. Nicole gets up from the swing grabbing my hand and runs to the diner. We get in and then everything went black.

I wake you to see Nicole and four other people. I see the door was open and walk toward it. We were leaving when we hear someone coming. Nicole and I hid on the stage as the person walks by. Nicole hit something and it made the curtain fall. We ran toward the bathroom and hid in one of the stalls.

"N, he's going to kill us isn't he," I whisper.

"Makayla remember our promise to each other?" she asks and I nod. "Well, I hope you understand that I'll protect you no matter what". I nod and she hugs me as I feel something around my neck.

"N, what are you..." she cuts me off pushing me under the next stall and telling me to run. I ran and ran till I found the doors to leave. They were chained shut. 'Shit' I thought turning around seeing the man walking toward me with a knife...

I wake up screaming and shaking. I pull my knees up as I feel something move next to me, causing me to jump. I feel something wrap around my waist making me scream again.

"Babe, calm down it's only me," I hear Jack say. I look with tears falling down my cheeks and I hug him tightly. Then his bedroom door opens hitting the wall hard making me jump.

"What happened?" I hear a very concerned Conor ask.

"She had a nightmare," Jack says rubbing my back as I hug him tighter. "M, let's try and go back to sleep, okay". I nod and let go of the hug. I lay back down closing my eyes but opening them again when I hear the door close. I look over to see Jack and Conor both gone.

"CONOR, JACK!!!" I yell with fear in my voice. The door opens and I run to them. "Please don't leave. I don't feel safe, so please stay". I hug them both.

"Makayla what wrong? You've never been this scared of a nightmare before," Conor ask and says. "Wait was it..." I nod before he could finish.

"I saw him Con, I saw HIM. He was at the club eyeing me. What if he knows it's me? I scared," I say with tears falling again.

"M, he's dead remember. He died in the diner after you escaped," he says making me look up.

I was confused. If he's dead how could I have seen him in the club last night? My mind was racing and giving me a headache. I walk back to Jack's bed and lay on it facing the ceiling. I sigh and grab Nicole's necklace.

"Nicole, am I going crazy or did I just think I saw him?" I say forgetting Conor and Jack are in the doorway.

Jack's POV

Makayla walks back to the bed and lies on it. She starts talking to herself. I look at her confused, but then Conor taps my shoulder.

"I'll tell you about it later," he whispers walking over to her. "Kayla, do you want some water?" She nods and he leaves to get her some water. I walk over to her and she starts humming.

"Hey, are you alright now?" I ask her laying in the bed and she puts her head on my chest.

"Yeah, I'm just scared," she says.

I stroke her hair and Conor walks back in with some water. He puts it on the end table and then leaves. Makayla gets up drinks it and lies back down putting her head back on my chest. After about thirty minutes she falls asleep. I get out of bed putting a pillow under her head and walking to Conor's room.
