Matt

I walk to the cafeteria in a daze. My whole day has been ruined, especially since the messages from yesterday.

And the new one I got today that said,

“If looks could kill, Katherine. You’d be dead a long time ago.”

All from a blocked number. The one I got today was most disturbing because those were the exact words Courtney used to say. Used to, since last summer. No one knew Courtney, everyone except Matt. Our families have been friends for years, so he used to come to play a lot when we were young. I walk to my usual table where Hailey is sitting, eating an apple. As I walk I feel someone tapping on my back. Matt.

“What is it Matt?” I ask without turning my back.

“I just wanted to say that I know about last summer. And its okay, I understand. She was torture anyway”

I turn around, appalled but he already disappeared. This cannot be happening. I go to my table and sit next to Hailey.

“You know Katherine, you could have told me about what you did last summer”

“What?” I ask even more horrified.

“You could have told me that you were the one that sent that letter to the principal to fire the Biology teacher last summer.”

“Oh that, sorry? I didn’t send any letter.” What’s going on?
