Scarlette's POV
Footsteps. Heavy breathing. The world faded as she ran. Her lungs burned. Vision splotched. She saw someone ahead of her. Face familiar looking. He stretched out a hand, and she slid under his legs, pulling her body up with his hand.
"Leave her alone, Scott. Scar can't help you with this and you know it. You're just looking for an excuse to beat her down." Aaron's voice shouted over the pounding rain, and Scarlette held onto his shoulder as she caught her breath.
"You don't know what you're talkin' 'bout boy, move outta my way!" Scott tried to shove Aaron aside, but he side stepped the brute, pulling Scarlette with him carefully.
"Oh, but I do old man." Aaron raised an eyebrow and smirked. Scar let go of his arm, manuevering around him. She stayed silent, but was ready to strike if needed.
"No, you really don'. Why don' ya just go on home now?" Scott had his eyes locked on Scarlette, who was a bit battered from the day before. He knew she couldn't defend herself to her highest capability.
"Why don't you take your British ass back to your house, snort some more coke, and leave Scar alone?" Aaron took her hand in his and they began to walk away when she heard the faint click of a gun, and then her ears rang as Scott pulled the trigger.
Scarlette zoomed past Louis as he pushed on the linoleum floor, trying to get ahead of Scar.
"Try and catch me if you can!" She laughed as she turned her head to look over her shoulder, pulling Louis's phone out from his pocket.
"Give it back ya rat!" He tried to go faster, but his board wouldn't give.
"Nope!" She was quickly approaching Paul, so Scarlette bent her knees, and leapt from her board.
"Good god ya clowns are gonna be tha death o' me." Paul set Scarlette down while Lou and her laughed our asses off.
The next morning she woke up in the hotel room, wrapped up in blankets on the couch. Her back was cramped up, but the familiar smell of her mother's omelets wafted through the room.
"Mother? Scott?" She sat up and shuffled into the kitchen area after typing up her hair, and tilted her head at the unfamiliar figure.
"Hey you want some breakfast kiddo?" That voice. The hair. It was all falling into place now.
"I'll beat you till you're dead!" Scarlette launched herself at her older brother, her voice cracking as it tore at her throat.
"Scarlette no!" Oliver ducked and rolled out of the way, but she latched onto his arm.
Doors slammed open and the boys were on Scarlette in seconds.
"Yes, oh yes. You left me to rot! YOU LEFT ME TO DIE!" Her body twisted and her shoulder popped up, but suddenly she was free.
"No, Lettie! I didn't I swear!" Oliver ducked as a fist flew for his jaw, but fell as a knee hit his head.
