Sobs echoed through the sterile dungeon as Wanda pressed her hand against the glass, against her brother's hand, as if she were reaching for him, for his warmth, for any kind of contact at all.
"Peter..." she gasped. "You came..."
"Of course I came!" Peter murmured soothingly. "I'll always come. Can you get out?" The mutant shook her head.
"The walls, they stop me from using my abilities," she answered miserably. Peter nodded.
"Alright, move back." Wanda scooted back against the wall, and Peter's hand began to vibrate yet again. The glass shattered a second later, glass like confetti raining down on them. Wanda leapt forwards, throwing herself at Peter.
Jean and Kurt stayed back, giving them distance. Though uncomfortable, the telepath was intrigued by the show of love before her. She wondered what that felt like.
Wanda was staring at her and Kurt. She turned to her brother, who nodded reassuringly, before walking forwards nervously, never straying too far from her brother. Kurt smiled kindly at her, trying to look less like a purple demon to not scare her off. Wanda suddenly wrapped her arms around them, startling them as she pulled them into a tight embrace.
"Thank you for looking after my brother," she whispered in their ears. Jean nodded, smiling warmly. Jean squeezed her, and the girl before her seemed to grow more confident, her back straightening, head tilting back defiantly, resembling her brother eerily. She met their gaze, winking, eyes glowing red for a second. The mutant pair stepped back, startled.
Wanda eyed their outfits, then closed her eyes. A red shimmer emanated from her, a sparkling crimson that captivated them. When it died down, Wanda was clean, her silky black hair cascading round her shoulders. She was dressed in black skinny jeans with a silver chain linking from her left pocket to her waistband and a white blouse. A red leather coat hung to the back of her knees, tapering slightly at the waist. Black leather boots gripped her thighs. She grinned, her confidence returning, building with her powers. Peter stepped up beside her, their shoulders touching. Now they were together, Jean could see the similarities between the two- the dark eyes, the cocky grin, the rebellious stance. The way they moved together, little shifts that hinted at a stronger bond than they realised. The twins swivelled their heads to face each other simultaneously. Peter broke into a devilish grin, one that promised havoc and mischief. Wanda returned the grin and turned back to face them.
"Who's ready to kick some ass?"
A/N: Sorry this is such a short chapter. It was basically just to get everyone ready to fight. The next chapter will definitely be longer.
Question of the Week:
If I were to write a sequel, would you guys read it?
It would definitely be longer than this, and infinitely more well written. Be brutally honest- all criticism is good criticism, as they say. See you guys soon 🤟🏻
