She slid in time to the music, hands pressing out into the air. She belted the lyrics to the same song she'd been listening to since she got home. I didn't know what made her like it, but I loved that she did.
She danced as if someone danced with her. I smiled as I watched.
Her hands stretched out in my direction and, for a second, I swore she looked right at me.
Then I was dancing with her. My hands never caught hers nor did we ever stumble into each other, but it made me feel— alive. I felt alive.
She kept swaying her hips and throwing her hands up as she twirled around the room. I tried to match her but I always ended up a second too slow. It was— perfect. So, so perfect.
She sang louder, stopping just to stand in her own world and sing. I wanted to commit it to memory. Everything about right now.
For the first time, I fell in love suddenly. This moment made me fall head over heels for someone I'd never have.
