Chapter II

Dakota has been a little off since the jacket situation and since then that jacket has not seen the inside of the closet and it bothers me that I don't know how a piece of clothing could make Dakota not herself. She tells me she's going out to walk Zepp like she has for the past days so I decide to call Chase to try to understand what's been going on.

- Jamie, how are you?

- I'm good now cut the crap and tell me what's going on.

- I can't possibly know what you're talking about.

- Chase, it's been a week since you saw her wearing that jacket and since then she's been distant and cold, I know she called you and talked to you, I also know you hate seeing her like this so please help me here, I want my Dakota back and I wanna know what's going on.

- Fine Jamie, I'm not telling you why the sudden change, that's up to Dakota but it's something from her past and you need to know she loves you and would never hurt you, not intentionally anyway. It's about Matt, he gave her that jacket and wrote a song titled "troublemaker". Please don't ever doubt her, just talk to her and she'll tell you what happened.

- Matt? How? When? We talked about him once and she told me they were never in a serious relationship because they were always breaking up.

- She didn't lie to you, that is the truth but please, just talk to her.

- I will I will, as soon as she gets back.

- Back? Where did she go?

- She's been walking Zepp every single day this week, I guess to avoid me asking any questions.

- Oh? Okay then. I gotta go and trust her, no matter what.

- I will, bye Chase, and thank you.

- No problem Dornan, I'll see you soon.

After that call with Chase I'm the one that decides to go for a walk. I need to clear my head. Why would Matt be back and why is it affecting Dakota so much? I leave the house with nothing but my keys and don't realize I forgot my phone. I walked and walked without knowing where I was going and only stopped when I noticed it was getting dark so I decide to go back home. I still had no clue as to why Matt was back in our lives. It bothers me that I have no answers and Dakota will either open up and tell me herself or I'll have to ask, hopefully option one because I'm sure option two will not have a very happy ending.

When I get home Dakota is on the phone as I make my way to sit on the sofa opposite from her and when she sees me she hangs up the phone.

- Where have you been?

- Out, why? Turning into Christian Grey now?

- What the hell Jamie, I was worried, you left your phone here and I didn't know where you were.

- Well, forgive me for needing air and for all that's worth, you went out and all I knew was that you were walking Zepp, you could be meeting with someone.

- What? Where is all that coming from?

- I don't know, you tell me.

- Who told you?

- That you were meeting with someone?

- No, because that's not true, I didn't meet up with anyone but you know something so who told you?

- No one told me a thing, you're the one that needs to tell me what's going on.

- I'm guessing you know it already so what's the point?

- Damn it Dakota, I literally know nothing, I only have a name and honestly? I'm pissed as hell that that name is back. Why and when it came back I don't know and I'd really like to know what's going on because if you wanna go back to him I might as well leave now. – I'm confused, pissed, everything but I want to know the story behind all this and I sure don't want to leave her. I have my head in my hands, trying to calm myself down and hoping she'll tell me something. When I look up I realize she has tears streaming down her face so I instinctively get up to clean her face but stop right away because that won't get us anywhere. – Dakota, do I stay or do I leave? What do you want?

- How is it that easy for you to just ask me to tell you to leave?

- It isn't and I didn't say that, I just asked a question because right now I don't know what's going on, you're so distant lately and it's all because of that stupid jacket! I can't handle knowing he's back and that he's affecting you this much. Are you going to talk?

- What do you wanna know?

- Maybe start with why that jacket is back. "Troublemaker"? It suits you. – I say with a little too much bitterness in my voice and that doesn't go unnoticed by her.

- I guess I deserved that. He called me the day before I wore the jacket and asked me to meet up with him.
