Chap 4

The little boy, Owen, turned out to be just fine.  Any longer, and he could've gotten hypothermia or even drowned. We'd gotten there  just in time. Owen was rushed to the hospital, and I stayed until he was released. He hugged and thanked me, grinning madly. He was about 6, and his parents couldn't have been  more thankful to the Burnses, not believing it was I who had saved their beloved little kid, despite everything Owen said.  Chief acted like they did, only because Owen's parents, mostly his mom,  downright refused anyone else saying otherwise, even Chief. though hre tried to explain it. Guess they aren't animal people. I shrugged it off. It didn't matter to me. I saved someone, doesn't matter if they know it or  not. 

"You don't care that we took the credit for your rescue?" Heatwave asked once we'd gotten to the base >Why would I? I know I saved someone. Doesn't matter whether they know or not. It's a rescuer's job. You should know that as well as I.< Luna translated for the humans, and Kade shrugged."Nah. I think I'll stick to getting credit for my  rescues. "  I rolled my eyes. Of course Kade. I kind of already expect that from you. >my family  taught me to always help people. No matter who they are, what they've done, personal or illegal experiences, no matter if you get credit or not. If someone escapes from jail and gets injured, priority #1 is treating the injuries and making suite they are okay. After that you can throw them in jail.< again, Buwan translated for me. Cody nodded. "She's right Kade.  Its about helping people to help them. Not for the glory." Kade began arguing with Graham, Cody, and Dani, so I decided to go outside and make sure Wildfire was okay. After all, It isn't easy to swim across a  strong current river, especially, fighting the current with a kid on your back.

I was stroking Wildfire's neck when Chief came up to me. "Jocelyn, can in ask you a question?" I nodded, mounting Wildfire."where did you get the horse?" Wildfire explained for me. "Jocie found me as a foal and raised me with Buwan and Luna. Where she goes, we go. I remain free and run everywhere I want, but I'm always near. Don't like me? Deal with it. I'm not going anywhere." Chief seemed a little confused at first, but straitened his face out  and  said, "Well, Jocelyn, you, Yokut horse and dogs all did some fine rescue work the other day. Where did you learn that stuff?" > my family taught me. They were firefighters and police officers just like your team. They taught me a lot of things I know today.< this time, since Luna and Buwan were in my room , Wildfire translated. We talked a few more minutes, then I rode Wildfire down yto blossom veil. We stayed for a good hour, just enjoying the view, before heading back. I got back  before dinner, so I checked my emails. I finally had one from Jack.

Dear Jocie, 

sorry I haven't emailed.. I got grounded agian for school. Two words:Art History. Art history is soooo boring.... Well, anyways, how are you liking your new family? What are they like? I heard there are Autobots there as well. Glad to hear that. Hyperwire and Sunsplitter are dying to come see you. We'll probably visit soon.You seriously need to get a phone. It would make it easier for us 4 to talk, at least by calling sometimees. Besides,  I never check many email, so please don't expect to hear from me soon.Also, Smokescreen won't stop you're playing pranks onRatxhet since you left. He's gotten so Manny dents in him its a wonder he's not all bent up. Gotta go. Bye.

I rolled my eyes. Really? I'm going to bed. I'm not getting that stuck in my head all night. Speaking of bed... I flopped down and fell asleep.
