Chapter Ten

                                                      *One Week Later*

Lyla -

"Get the f*ck off of her!" was all I heard before I blacked out from the blows the girls were throwing at me. I woke back up by the sound of sniffles and the loud beep of a monitor. I fluttered my eyes open and immediately realized I was in a hospital. I looked over to the right of me and there was Alex. I began to panic as she got close to me, causing the monitor to beep faster and louder.

"Are you alright, Ms. Coleman?" one of the two nurses said, who had rushed into my room.

I just nodded my head before trying to speak but I couldn't because my mouth was completely dry. The other nurse hurried to my side, grabbed the water from the night stand that sat beside the hospital bed I was laying in, put the straw close to my mouth, allowing me to drink.

The nurse who questioned me when they first came in eyed Alex then said, "What's going on?"

"I'm fine." I managed to say. She looked at me, cautiously, before she and the other nurse left out of the room.

"Damn, I'm sorry this happened to you, Lyla." Alex said, looking at me, full of concern.

"What are you doing here? What the hell do you want?" I asked her, full of hate. It was her fault I was in this predicament.

"I wanted to make sure you were alright. You don't know how worried I was about you when Christina called me and told me you were in the hospital because of Vickie." She said, as she moved closer to me then touched my face.

"I don't know why she called you," I started, moving my face away from her touch, "I don't know why you were worried. Lately, you act like Vickie's all you care about and you couldn't give a f*ck about me. Oh, don't worry about me. I'm okay, just like I've always been. Vickie will get hers." Yeah, that b*tch definitely will get hers, I thought to myself.

Alex sighed and said, "I really hope you don't do anything crazy, Lyla." I quickly turned my head back to her and gave her a "you better get the f*ck out of my face before you get yours too." She moved back and nodded her head, in understanding, before leaving the room. Almost 3 minutes after she left, my mother entered the room, her eyes fulled with tears. She rushed to my side and immediately began to kiss all over my face.

"My poor, poor, baby!" She exclaimed, being slightly dramatic, as she wrapped her arms around me.

"Ma, I'm okay!" I said, starting to feel a sharp pain in my arm.

"What are those girls names? Addresses? Give me all of it. They are so lucky your sister Lauren and your dad is not with us anymore! And who the hell is that girl who walked out of here when I first came in? And why the hell haven't you called me lately?" She asked, going from sad to angry in a matter of seconds.
