Percy's POV

The mean pre-algebra teacher just turned into an even more horrible monster. It started growling at Davina, showing it's unbearable yellow teeth, drool dripping from its fangs, so naturally I pushed her to the wall to keep her out of harms way. The beast swiftly flew towards me and as it was about to sink it's claws into my face,Davina stupidly screamed in terror and jumped in front of me.

"Davina NO!" I screamed as the monster's claws struck her right cheek, causing a huge gash, making it bleed terribly. She immediately looked tired, and in pain, she took a step back and soon collapsed in my arms. As I was looking at the deep wound on her face, Grover ran up with a sword and tossed it to me. The bronze sword fit perfectly in my hand like I was made for it. I did what came naturally, quickly setting Davina aside, I forcefully pushed the sword into the beast's chest as is screamed an ear piercing shriek. It slowly dissolved into dark, black dust.

"We need to go." Grover said in a frantic voice as I stared at Davina's limp body. Is she dead? I know if I could live without her. Without her soft laugh or gently yet beautiful voice. Or her silver-blue eyes that always seems to find their way to mine. What if I never see she her again?

"She going to be alright b-but w-we need to go." He sounded like he was trying to convince himself more than me. But I just nodded and walked over to Davina. I picked up Her surprisingly light body and held her close. She was breathing lightly and her heart was still beating. Both of these things gave me hope that she was going to make it.

We ran to the nearest bus stop. Luckily there was no one there. We sat down on the bench and waited. Grover was muttering something about how 'they' were going to kill him. I just zoned him out while I was playing with Davina's soft reddish-brown hair. A light smile played on my lips as I pulled her closer to me, if that was even possible.

It was about mid November and it was freezing out. I'm surprised that it wasn't snowing how cold it was. And it was terrifying. It wasn't the cold that scared me, it was the fact that Davina was burning hot and it was only getting worse. I looked over my shoulder at Grover, my fear written on my face. As soon as he saw, he jumped out of his seat. He started pacing back and forth, yelling at the bus to hurry up and get here.

"Grover! Why is she burning up?" I asked out of pure confusion and annoyance.

"The-the poison is affecting her differently then I-I've ever seen." What?!? She's poisoned?! Just as I opened my mouth to say something the long white bus pulled up. Without thinking I ran onto it, cradling Davina in my arms. Grover limped behind us, hoofing as he almost tripped over the seats. I made my way to the back, putting Davina in the window seat I sat in the isle seat. Grover sat in the seat in front of us.

"Where are we going?" I asked as Davina's warm head made its way to my shoulder. I honestly didn't mind, I would rather her lay her head on me instead of the dirty window.

"Her home." Grover sinked into his seat. I smiled to myself, Davina and I have lived next door to each other our entire lives. I was happy to see my mom again. I haven't seen her in 6 months.

The bus ride was long and tiring. Davina wasn't getting any colder. Grover muttering stuff in a different language. He kept talking about how it was happening again, when his words finally went back to English.

Right now we were walking to mine and Davina's small apartment building. It was made of mostly red bricks and went about 10 stories high. I lived in a 2 bedroom and 1.5 bath apartment with my mom and stepfather, Smelly Gabe. While Davina lived in a 3 bedroom and 2 bath apartment with her mom and 2 brothers who were away at boarding school.

The steel steps looked exactly the same as they did the last time I was here. The door to my apartment was right across the way from hers. I wanted to open it up and ran to my mom but I would have to see Gabe and I don't want to see him. And besides Davina matters more.

"Ms. James, my name is Grover and I have Percy and Davina here with me." Grover said as he knocked on the door. It only took a couple of seconds for the door to open revealing Ms.james, Davina's mom.

"Davina?!" She screamed/asked, her eyes on Davina's limp body. I pulled her closer to me. "What happened?"

"A fury, Ma'am" Grover said as he limped in.

"She's burning up." I added stepping in immediately going to the kitchen counter. I sat Davina down on the island keeping her hand in mine.

"Grover go across the way and get Mrs.Jackson." My mom. Grover nodded and basically ran out the door. While Ms. James was running to get something out of a cabinet, I looked at Davina's face. I remember how we used to joke about one day getting married. I don't know about her but I took it seriously. One day I will marry her, but of course not any time soon. I just been to scared to tell her how I feel. I don't know if she feels for me, what I feel for her. I would die for her, I would go to the ends of the earth to just see her smile. I miss her and she's only been asleep for like 3 hours. I guess it's the idea that I'll never She her again, see her smile or hear her laugh.

Man, I just want her to wake up. I want to hold her and to never let go. Because I don't think I could breath for a second without her.

" Excuse me." Ms. James says from behind me. Just then the sound of the door being flung open followed by the sounds of people running filled the room. My mom turned the corner and bear hugged me. She asked if I was okay, which I told her that I was fine.

"How is she?" My mom asked looking at Ms. James. Tears were rolling down her cheeks. She shook her head viciously.

"Sh-she won't drink." She showed the cup to my mom. My mom's face looked like she was was in deep thought. Then finally she turned to me, her green eyes sparkling like they do when she gets an idea.

"Percy can you give it to her?" Why me?, I thought, but instead of objecting I just nodded. I took the glass cup that was filled with some purple liquid. Taking a deep breath I walked up to Davina.

"Davina I need you to drink this." I whispered in her ear. "Please, for me?"

I placed the cup to her lips and gently pulled her head up off the table. When her lips parted I slowly poured the liquid down her throat. I placed my lips to her forehead, giving her a soft kiss. Just as I was about pull away a hand grasped my forearm. I looked down to see Davina's bluish-silver eyes piercing into mine. My cheeks immediately got hot and I knew I was blushing. We were so close, our noses were practically touching.

It took every fiber of my being to pull away. I smiled gently at her, which she returns. After a bit of awkward silence, I turned to Ms.James. She had a sad face that worried me. She turned to my mom and whispered something, then they walked away.

"What's going on?" I asked Grover. He looked at Davina and I, his face was unreadable.

"Nothing, we're going to be fine." A nervous smile played on his lips. I sighed, walking over to the wall. My back was to the wall, I crossed my arms and looked down. What's going to happen?, I kept asking myself. I finally looked up when I heard a door open. My mom walk up to me with her usual smile on. Over her shoulder I saw Ms.james talking to a very sad Davina.

My mom placed her hand on my cheek, caressing it softly.

"I love you Percy. Never forget that." I gave her a reassuring smile, telling her that I'll never forget. Her smiled got brighter, but it soon turned into a frown. She looks over her shoulder at Ms.James and slightly nods.

I have a feeling that this is only the beginning.
