Kaname X reader oneshots || Nagi no Asukara: a lull in the sea

You just haven't noticed

(Y/n) POV
"When will you realize my feelings?", I mumbled to myself as I walked around looking at the various sea life around. "Who might you be talking about?", I squeaked as I heard the male voice speak clearly, "W-what do you mean?", I asked surprised as I turned on my heels to see Kaname standing behind me, "You know exactly what I mean.", his straightforwardness startling me a bit, "Why do you seem to always catch me at the most embarrassing of times?" "Perfect timing.", he simply put with a smile as he walked past me, I followed behind. "Do you mind telling me?" "I...ummm...", I stopped my sentence with a pout as we continued to walk with no destination in mind.
We walked until we saw the school we once went to, along with Hikari, Manaka, and Chisaki, the place being the usual abandoned wreck. "Do you remember all of the fun times we had?", I asked Kaname in a soft voice as we entered through the glass doors to see the mossy pillars and old tiled floors. Kaname nodded with a smile and let out a small sigh, "Everything still remains untouched.", he mumbled as he walked over to a classroom, specifically the one we use to go to, "How nostalgic.", I murmured as I walked over to the blackboard with smeared chalk still present, "I remember everything like it was yesterday.", I felt a small wave of sadness wash over my heart as I thought of the times at the school, although we still went to the same school currently it still hurt my heart to see our once lively building in shambles. "We still have one another, right?", I heard his voice interject my train of thoughts, I nodded and sighed, "That's all I'll ever need.", I responded.
          "Ne, Kaname. What's this?", I asked as I stopped by a certain pillar that had lines and Kaname's, Chisaki's Manaka's and Hikari's names next to specific lines. "Ahhh, that's our heights. We've kept track ever since we were young.", he kept his usual smile as he gently touched the pillar. I looked at the graphing and smiled, "you guys really are amazing friends.", I didn't grow up with all four of them, but it didn't matter because I still saw them as if I had been with them my entire life. "Why not mark your's?", he asked as he pulled out a pen and handed it to me.
          I stepped away and looked at the height difference between I and the other four, "Don't forget about this (y/n).", he said as he locked eyes with me, "I won't.", I smiled as my cheeks heated a bit. "Oh, that reminds me. Who're you thinking about earlier?", I blushed as he brought up the subject of my words, "W-what do you mean?", I stuttered as his eyes looked very serious. "I think you know exactly what I mean.", his voice a bit different from its usual tone, "A-ahhh....w-well it's...y'know....feelings." "For who?" "Ummmm....someone I know." "Do I know them?" "Yeah.", his questions came one after another as I blushed harder and harder with each second.
        "I don't think he really feels the same for me. I'm only a friend, I think..." "Have you ever asked him?" "W-WHAT?! That'd be too...e-embarrassing!", my face was fully covered in scarlet as I thought about having feelings for Kaname. "I don't think you've noticed his feelings then.", I looked at him and noticed his blue eyes shining in kindness and....love? "E-even if I were to say something to him....he'd probably shoot me down.", my voice coming out hushed as I looked at the floor sadly. I was about to excuse myself from the situation but I suddenly felt something soft peck my cheek, I looked up to see Kaname pulling away with a soft smile, "You just haven't noticed at all.", he whispered as he turned away and walked out of the school. I was left in shock but I shook my to rid the feeling and ran to Kaname, hugging his back tightly, "I've finally noticed. But is it enough?", I felt him turn around in my arms and hug me back, "It's clearly enough, right?", he whispered in my ear before hugging me tighter to him as I felt happiness flood my entire being.
