He was laughing but he wasn't exactly feeling it. He was worried.

Kim had noticed his teeth and they were canine looking.

But her noticing his sharp teeth wasn't the cause of worry. The incident made him realize he would eventually have to tell her about the werewolf thing. Being a werewolf was a pretty big deal. Being a werewolf who hunted vampires was an even bigger of a deal.

How would she react? Would she run screaming? Would he loose her? The thought made him feel nauseated. To live without kim would be painful. He was afraid. He was afraid to tell her.

The lunch bell rang. Their time was already up so soon. He didn't want to leave her side.

" I have to get to class." she said.

She was leaving him for another two hours. Torment.

But she gave a big smile before going. So there was that.

Before she disappeared she inquired why he wasn't moving. He replied he would get to class in a bit and that he would see her after school. And she left.

Jared let out a deep breath. He already felt the heavy weight of her absence. It was a shitty feeling to say the least.

He would have to tell the pack. Sam would understand. But he couldn't imagine anyone else liking it.

Who cares. All that mattered was Kim.

Somehow Jared managed to pass the two hours of torcher. But he couldn't care less when he found Kim waiting for him outside school. She was so beautiful.

They started walking. He wanted hold her hand. But he wasn't sure how she would react.

She was speaking to him. He couldn't risk scaring her.

"Let's do something tonight." he said.

"Ok. " she answered immediately.

Jared felt relieved.

"Wait. No. I can't tonight. Sorry." she said again.

" You have plans already."  Jared stated for clarification.

" Yeah."

He was hoping she would explain. But she seemed reluctant to. Jealousy ate at him. Was it a guy? A guy she liked?

Even though he felt jealous, he would let her be with someone else if it made her truly happy. If she wasn't happy and content there wasn't a point to anything.

"My friend is sick and I have to go visit her." she explained.

Oh. Thank god.

"That's nice of you." Jared noted.

"Not really. Anyone would go visit their only friend." she said.

"Why is she your only friend?" he asked.

She looked a bit uncomfortable answering,

" I'm not good with people. I'm shy and nervous. I don't have any people skills."

"Plus, you're sweet and charming, people really hate that." Jared teased with a smile.

Kim gave him a look.

"What?" he asked.

"I'm not kidding. You are sweet and charming. It doesn't matter how good a persons people skills might be, what really matters is wether you're likeable or not. And you, Kim are incredibly likeable. You smile easily, speak nicely, you make good conversation and you're considerate. Doesn't take anything more." he said again staring ahead.

" You just need to open yourself up to others. That's all it takes."

When he turned back to look at her with a smile he realized she had stopped walking. She was blushing.

Wow. She looked spectacular. She had a sparkle in her eyes and a slight smile. Like she was about to.... Cry?

Oh god. Was he making her cry? Talk about feeling like a piece of shit.

Without thinking, he went to her and cradled her delicate face in his big hands.

"Why are you crying?" he asked. He wiped at a tear falling from her face.

" That's the nicest thing anyones ever said to me." she said.

"I'm sure that's not true. Your family must have said things like that. They know you enough to know how wonderful you are. I just got a slight taste."

"When I told my mother about my fear of people, she told me I was a wuss and to get over it."

" And it's true. I am a wuss. I just wish I could get over it. My fear of people is infiltrating my life. In a bad way." she said.

Jared was angry at her mother but most importantly, he wanted to reassure her.

" That's completely untrue. " he said.

" Tell you what. I can help. You'll be comfortable around people in no time. Don't worry about it. "

" Why are you being so nice to me?"

"Because I can." he states simply.

"And because I really like you."

Kim instantly froze. Shit. Too soon.

But then she unfroze and looked into his eyes.

" I like you too." she said in a happy tone.

She liked him.

He was so happy he smiled really wide.

She smiled back. Her lips curling upwards in a pretty way. In a way that made him want kiss them. Blast it. She liked him. Just a kiss. Just a small kiss.
