I feel wet warmth on my forehead. I try to open my eyes. I see a light blur, I open my eyes to a handsome brown eyed boy.
The boy I saw in the tree.
"wh-who are you?" I said faintly.
"A tribute. And you are?" he said. very rudely.
"I mean, whats your name?" I said, pushing myself up with my hands.
"ugh... My name is Joshua Kornsney. I am a district 3 tribute. and honestly, you're lucky I did not kill you. I've been taking note of you since training. and you have remarkable strength." Joshua said.
my goodness, he is attractive.
I force myself to stand up off the grass.
I am very sore from that fall.
"So... are you trying to ask me to be allies?" I said.
"yes. now, let me tell you what happened whe-"
"how do I know I can trust you?" I said, cutting him off.
"well, for one, I didnt kill you. two, I am very stealthy, and you seem to be strong and can go through pain. so, we make a good team." he said, obviously trying to win me over.
"okay, go on. who has... you know... died?"
"well, you were out for 3 days so many have died; a boy from 11, two from 8, two from 9,one from 7, one from 5 and 1 from 4. this year isnt going too well." he said, looking down.
"joshua... are you ok?"
"um... we dont need to talk about that. we need to get going before carriers catch up to us." he said, gathering his bag and weapons.
I stood up, walking towards him.
I stayed quiet until dark.
