Run. Run. Run. Those were the only words I could think of. As fast as my legs could carry me, I ran through the graveyard. I ignored the burning sensation I felt in my feet. If I stopped running right now, this graveyard would have its first burial in 50 years.
I wouldn't be going through all this if I just listened to Nathan. Well, if he wasn't so damn cute when he got jealous, I would have cancelled the date. Did I just say Nathan was cute?
Maya climbed over the gate of the cemetery and catched her breath. She looked behind her and saw beams of light dancing in the night sky. Those beams were coming from the flashlights of the people who were frantically looking for her. People who she thought she can trust her life with. Now, those people were hunting her down because of some rock in her body. She didn't know what it does or how it ended up inside her. All she knew was that this rock was very valuable. So valuable that people would tear her body apart in order to get their hands on it. She shuddered at the thought.
She slowed down and found herself at an intersection. Thankfully, streetlights and lights coming from several shops that were still open lit the sidewalks. She was tired of being in dimly lit places. The only light that lit her way until now was the light coming from the full moon. She entered the nearest shop she could get to. It was one of the biggest mistakes she ever did.
Upon entering the building, she felt everyone's eyes staring at her. They were probably staring at her because of three reasons. First, her sudden entrance. Second, her agitated look. Lastly, her clothes. Did I mention that all she was wearing was a torn dress that barely covered her?
"W-why hel-lo there da-arling!" A drunk man slurred as he staggered over to her. Maya wrapped her arms around herself as if protecting her body from the incoming drunk man. She took a step back and stuttered "D-don't come near me." clearly petrified.
What was she thinking? Going into a store without reading the sign. Now she was at a pub that was conviniently full of drunk men. Well, it wasn't really full, there were like five or seven men in there, but still. This day couldn't get any worse. For Maya, at least.
"Oh, fuck me." Maya thought out loud. "What was that darling?" The drunk man voiced out. "N-nothing." Maya replied. Of all the words she could think of, she thought of the worst possible thing to say to a drunk man that had something forming in his pants. "You want me to fuck you? Why, of course sweetheart!" the drunk man happily said as he neared her. "No please! Please don't!" Maya shrieked. "Oh you can save the screaming for later, darling." the man replied with a wink.
The drunk man pinned her to the door. Maya could smell the alcohol reeking off him. "Okay, introductions first, I'm Owen. What's your na-" he was cut off by another man that looked younger than him. Thankfully, he looked sober. The young man pushed Owen away and escorted Maya to one of the chairs near the counter. "Thank you." Maya muttered to the young man. He nodded and turned around to face Owen. Because Owen was so drunk, he fell because of the push. He stood up slowly and dashed towards the young man.
"Why you little prick. I was about to get some and your annoying ass just had to interfere! Why I ought to-" Owen grabbed the young man's collar and punched him in the face. The young man fell down. "That should teach you motherf-" The young man punched Owen in his nether regions. Owen kneeled down and howled in pain. "AARON YOU FUCKING BITCH!" he cried out. "So the young guy's name is Aaron. He looks like the same age as me. Thank you God! He's sober! " Maya thought. Aaron went back to where Maya was sitting.
"My apologies miss. Sorry for the ruckus. You look a little flustered. Have you lost your way perhaps?" Aaron asked. "Oh, uh yes." Maya replied nervously.
