I find my way back to Elle's house with a tear stained face, an empty heart, and a full mind. The exact opposite from when I originally left her house.
There sitting on the porch step was Andrew. My brother. In the exact same condition as I was in.
He looked up at me and sipped his red eyes and cold, wet cheeks. I sit next to him and just stare into the distance.
"I know." I stare simply. He looks at me.
"About?" He asked.
"Everything. For once." I say quietly. "And you have no reason to be scared." I proceed to tell him with a stronger voice. "You're nothing like your dad, you're not a monster. No one is. Just people with shitty experiences, and I can tell you right now that you're going to be an amazing father because of how much you care right now. You're not your dad whose a killer, and you're not mom who ran away when she was scared." I tell him with my voice cracking. "You're my brother and I know that you'll make the right choices."
Andrew looks at me and wrapped his arm around me, and I lay my head on his shoulder.
"I love you," he sighed.
"I love you too."
And in a perfect world we would be looking at the sky scattered with little bright dots, however we're in the city. So we were looking at a blank sky. It was just as good though. Clear. Perfectly clear.
