Elijah Hurst's POV

"When can I meet him?" I ask Veronica the same question everyday since she told me her boss's name. It becomes a ritual to me.

Curiosity is an understatement to what I am feeling right now. I am so intrigue about his infamous boss.

Veronica lifts one of her perfectly curved eyebrow at me. "Why so curious girl?"

"I just want to thank him for helping me." I told her in a 'duh' tone.

Well, it is just partly true. The truth is I have been dreaming about the time of the accident. The moment when I heard his deep smooth voice and of course the moment when I saw glimpse of his beautiful face. There is a big part of me that really want to know him more.

"The boss is a very busy person." Veronica pointed out dryly.

She gave me a pair of crutch. It is a long stick with a crosspiece at the top. I placed it under my armpit to support me.

Shutting my mouth, I pout at her as I gently stand using them.

Veronica helps me as I mumble a thank you to her. I take a step forward and see Veronica smiling proudly at me. I chuckle at her reaction.

"So where can we venture out?" I can't help but squeal. "Can we go to the garden again?"

"Sure, we can dear." She said thoughtfully.

I nodded eagerly. I love the garden anyway, I won't get tired of hanging around there.

I excitedly pick up one of the books Veronica lend me and walk carefully in the direction of the door.

Veronica opens it for me and let me go out first. I sigh in anticipation as we continue our walk.

I find our walk slightly uncomfortable because of the two kilograms cast around my leg. Nevertheless, Veronica is really comforting to be with as she keeps making small conversation with me.

My pace halted instantly when a woman dress like a nurse scampers our way. It is my first time to see other person besides Veronica in this big house.

The nurse seems agitated as she says something I didn't understand to Veronica.

She turns her attention to me. "Listen, there's an emergency. Will you be able to handle yourself for the meantime?" I have never seen Veronica holding this much seriousness from the day I met her.

"Yes. I understand, don't worry." I confirmed quickly.

Veronica eyes me calculatingly. Her face unconvinced.

"What?" I asked her innocently. "Just go. They need you." I shoo her away. She gave me one last glance before running away with the nurse.

I hum a tune that even myself can't recognize as I proceed walking limply with my good leg. I try not to ponder much about Veronica and the nurse.
