Chapter 5 - Help

Ellie's P.O.V -

"Thanks for the drive Kimber." I thanked her in a tiny voice and opened the door of the car. "Ells, if you want to talk I'm always here." She stated, I could hear in her voice that she was mad but also sad. She was the best bestfriend anyone could ask for. I turn around to face her giving her a small fake smile, "I know. I'll come on Friday, maybe we can hang out?" I asked, we hadn't hung out that much for the past month due to after school activities. She grinned from ear to ear and nodded, "I'd loved that, see you later Ells." She said leaning over to kiss the top of my head.

I nodded and closed the door of the car running to my house not wanting to get wet, I turned around as she was pulling out and waved. I couldn't see what she did back from I was guessing she blew a kiss like always. I smiled to myself turning to the door and unlocked it. I dropped my bag at the front foor after closing it and made my way into the living room.

"I'm home!" I yelled and sat down on the couch turning on Netflix. "Hi honey." My mother said as she came out from the kitchen placing a  hand on my shoulder smiling, "How was your day?"

I sat there for a minute, should I tell her about the fainting? No she'd be to worried and she was worried enough about money... "It was great. There's these new kids, they seemed cool." I lied, they all did seem cool... Even Christian. I mentally slapped myself, no thinking of that jerk. He meant nothing to me. My heart ached just thinking about him, why? My mother smiled and nodded, I knew she didn't know how I felt at the moment. I was amazing at hiding my feelings. I looked back to the T.V putting on Doctor Who. I loved David Tennant more than Matt Smith but who couldn't love Matt Smith? I heard my mother chuckle and sigh, I've been watching Doctor who since I was six. No idea why, but I really loved the show.

After about four one hour episodes of Doctor Who I heard my brother come in, "What are we going to have for dinner?" That boy couldn't wait for food... Couldn't blame him though. I loved food too.

"Meat Loaf." My mother yelled out the kitchen as I cringed, I hated Meat Loaf... "Moooooooom!" I cried out, "Sweetheart just try it! It's a new type of Meat Loaf." I shook my head as my brother laughed at me. I muttered some swear words and went back to watching Doctor Who, moments later my sister walked in. "ELLIE ARE YOU COMING TO BASKETBALL PRACTICES NEXT WEEK ON THURSDAY!?" She yelled from the front door, I face palmed, I couldn't watch Doctor Who with them around... I turned off Netflix and nodded to my sister. She had a huge grin on her face, "Yes! There is no way we can lose with you on our team!" She squeeled and ran up the stairs to change out of her clothes.

I sighed, no way I was getting out of this one, I was going to have to go to the basketball practice... I looked over at the clock.

11:35 PM

It flashed in bright red letters, the only reason why we would eat dinner at this time of day was because everyone got home at this time. Riley had basketball after school, and after that she went to go tutor some people for extra cash (that we needed). Liam had basketball, football, and soccer after school (not on the same days though), and then he would go and work a shift at our local supermarket from 6-10 PM. I always came home after school, unless I was babysitting. I sighed, since our adoption parents (Mary and Ryan) got divorced we had been low in money. From having to go to the doctors to buying food. He was the reason why all of us had been sent to the ER.

I heard a front door slam and jumped up, what the heck?

Speak of the devil.

My father came from the front door area. He was drunk again. He would always come here when he was drunk and abuse us.

"Oh look what we have here. It's the outcast Ellie. The Unwanted one. The Worthless one." He smirked, I just stood in my place giving him a bored expression.

"Ryan just get out." I said, out of the corner of my right eye I could see my mother, Riley, and Liam standing there.

"Or what?" He said picking up a lamp, what the heck was he going to do? Break it?

"Get out Ryan." My brother barked, in a split second my father was charging at him.

No!

I mentally screamed as I ran at my dad leaping on to his back. He fell back on to me, I started gasping for air. I couldn't breath. The next thing I knew was that Ryan smashed the lamp off my head as the sirens started blarring.

"SIS!" I heard Riley screamed running towards me, Ryan was already gone. Running from the police. I knew my brother was beside me as my mother called someone off her cellphone.

"Thank you, it means a lot to us." She said hanging up, "Get your bags, we're going to Kimberly's house." She told my siblings and went beside touching my face.

"I'm fine." I groaned out hoping that she believed the lie, I guess she didn't because she started to cry "Sweetheart please don't lie. I can tell you're in pain, anyone who got hit in the face with a glass lamp would be in pain." All I did was give a small smile, "I love you Mom." "I love you too sweetheart." And then, I blacked out for the second time this day.
