Violette Laurent was a young lady who sold flowers every two days of a week. Due to not having enough money for transportation, Violette would always walk from her house in the forest to get to town. As she walked, Violette would pick flowers on the way to sell in town.
Humming a soft tune along her journey to town.
Happy.
Merry.
And...
Warm.
The people in town described her as such. Although women often brushed her aside due to her unkempt appearance. However men would always attempt to sway Violette off her feet. Even literally sweep Violette of her feet, but the vendors and shop keepers would often watch over Violette's safety.
Making sure no men or women would try to do something despicable to Violette. For she was the daughter of their friend. A former flower vendor who worked hard to live a quiet and carefree life.
Sadly their friend passed away, leaving Violette alone to care for herself. Despite their passing...Violette worked hard to keep her peaceful lifestyle.
The vendors and shop keepers were worried though. Violette was growing up faster than a blink of an eye. Before they knew it, she already reached an age for marrying.
However the brunette had no plans on commitment. Violette was content with the way she lived.
Though...something different happened for both Violette and the vendors who kept an eye on her.
Lately, a nobleman would always come up to buy flowers from her.
Violette believed his name was Edmond according to the person escorting him, perhaps a butler? Or caretaker? But she didn't know much about Edmond. Nor did she know which noble family he came from.
'He would always return on the days I appear in town.' It was an odd sight to see someone constantly arriving on the days she'd be in town. However Violette felt happiness bubbling within her whenever she saw him. She never had someone return to see her.
Content with his constant appearance before her. Violette slowly had a feeling that she couldn't interpret. Violette would often question the fluttering feeling that happened whenever she was around Edmond.
It wasn't painful or constant.
In fact...it made her feel like she had another reason to return to this particular town besides meeting her parent's old friends.
One day, the said man asked if he could spend one day with her. She felt touched by his asking.
Unfortunately Violette shook her head and replied. "I only stay in town for two days a week."
"Because I always walked from my house in the forest to town." It was the only reason as to why she'd appeared unkempt.
Without wasting a single coin, Violette managed to get by using the money she earned in those two days.
"Is that so?" Violette nodded her head, feeling a bit guilty.
'This man was one of the few customers that often returned to see me...and this is the way I repay him?' It made Violette feel bitter about herself.
