"Eh?" Violette muttered. Her eyes wide in surprise of Edmond's suggestion. "A visit?"

"Yes, my butler's wife...Catherine hasn't been feeling well lately. It would make her feel better if someone else was there to talk to her."

Edmond asked her, "So I was wondering if you'll accompany me three days from now?"

"Three days from now?" It's possible that Edmond was asking Violette to go on the day she sold flowers. A sad smile formed on Violette's lips. "But I have to sell my flowers."

She didn't want to let someone else take over her job. It was the only thing that allowed Violette to make a living even after her parents bid her farewell for the afterlife.

Violette soon felt a hand placed against her shoulder. Violette glanced up to find Edmond smiling back at her. "Don't worry. I'll pay for all of the flowers you bring that day."

"All?" Violette was surprised by his offer. There were times the wealthy would buy little or none at all. However this was the first time a noble would do something like this. Especially for someone like her. Violette had to ask, because she didn't know what Edmond could use the flowers for. Was it for Catherine? His mother? A lover perhaps? Maybe he had a younger sister that loved flowers.

She had no clue. The only thing she knew about Edmond was from the days she sold flowers.

"But what will you do with all of them?" Violette asked, curious of his response.

"We can hand them to Catherine."

'So he chose to give them to his butler's wife.'

He sounded like a kind soul.

'Monsieur Edmond was really kind to others wasn't he? I've never met a noble being considerate of others.'

It actually made Violette feel happy to learn about that side of him.

It was like Violette had learned something new when it came to Edmond.

'Maybe it wouldn't hurt to meet Catherine.' She thought. 'I might learn more about Edmond from her.'

As the days flew by, Violette prepared a proper flower bouquet for Catherine. Using thin pieces of string to hold the bundle of flowers, Violette made sure the flower were protected in her basket.

Taking her usual route down the forest, Violette wondered about Catherine.

What kind of person was she?

Did she liked a particular kind of flower?

What was her favorite tea flavor?

Violette had many questions.

'I didn't have many friends due to my family living close to the forest. And my friendships with people in town never last for long.'

As excitement filled within her, Violette happily hummed as she made her way to town.
