Chapter 12
After the trip to Cedar Point with Ryan, things had been different between us. We weren't at each other's throats as much. I couldn't decide if that was a good thing or not. We'd argue over small things, but we didn't get into the full out I-hate-your-guts, I-want-to-hit-you-with-a-bus kind of fights.
"Hey, Lexi," Ryan smiled at me as I was putting books into my locker.
"Hey," I said tiredly.
"Long day?" Ryan asked.
I nodded, "Is it Friday yet?"
He chuckled and shook his head, "Sorry, princess, it's only Wednesday."
I groaned then shut my locker. Ryan walked with me to the front doors where we found Hannah waiting for me. When she saw me and Ryan together, a knowing smirk slid across her face.
"Hey, you two," Hannah raised an eyebrow at us.
"Hi, Hannah," Ryan gave her a small wave.
"So I was thinking-" Hannah began but me and Ryan cut her off.
"Uh-oh," me and Ryan said in unison, exchanging pretend scared looks.
"Hey, not nice!" Hannah pouted, crossing her arms.
Me and Ryan laughed as she glared at us.
"Anyways, I was thinking that maybe the three of us go play mini golf Saturday!" Hannah said excitedly.
"Mini golf?" I repeated.
Me and Hannah had been spending a lot of Saturdays hanging out with Ryan lately. I wasn't sure how I felt about it.
"Yeah, sounds fun right?"
"I don't think that's a good idea," I blurted out.
"Why not?" Hannah asked, her smile falling from her face.
"Hannah, can I talk to you alone, please?" I asked.
Ryan chuckled, "Uh-oh. This can't be good."
I glanced at him then back at Hannah who nodded and followed me as I led her away from Ryan.
"What are you doing?" I whisper shouted.
"What?" Hannah asked innocently.
"Why do you keep asking Ryan to hang out with us every weekend? You know I don't get along with him."
"Well, you could try to get along with him. Besides, you've been getting along with him better lately," Hannah pointed out.
"Yeah, but I still don't want to be with him this much," I argued.
"Too bad," Hannah sang before turning and walking back to Ryan.
"So mini golf this Saturday, yeah?" Hannah chirped.
"Sounds good to me. What about you, princess?" Ryan smirked.
I crossed my arms and pouted, "Whatever."
"Perfect. Lexi will text you the place and time for Saturday, okay, Ry?"
"Got it," Ryan said to her then winked at me.
"This should be fun," I said sarcastically.
"Yeah, it should be fun. You're getting better at having fun, Lexi. I guess you can thank me for that, huh?" Ryan smirked.
I ignored him, "I'm going home. Are you coming, Hannah?"
"Yep. Bye, Ryan!" she smiled and waved.
