Chapter 6

I am very glad that everything went fine. Reading the poem Luke and I wrote made me feel like I was going to throw up, but I didn't. Praise the Lord! I am not use to being in front of class and all eyes on me but it was worth it since we got the highest grade. No one really took it seriously, that's why.

"Hey Alice! What's up?" Luke says as he goes to my table.

"Yeah, what's up. We've been together an hour ago." I answer him.

"Well, just wanted to make sure you're fine." Luke sits on the chair beside me.

I saw Ashton, Calum and Michael glare at us by the time Luke sat on the chair.

"Thank you. Can I ask you something?" I ask and he nods as a yes.

"Are you and your friends in a fight or something?" I turn my head to his friends and he follows.

"Uhm… I don't know. They don't want me to be near you. So I kind of turned them down and they told me that they won't talk to me until I stay away from you." Luke sighed and glanced at them once more. "If they were really my friends… they would respect my choice of friends too, right?" He turns his head on me and his eyes meets mine. I shrugged for a second until I finally made my mind stable enough to answer.

"I… I really don't know what to say." I utter, "I've never had such friend problems since I've never had friends." I say which came more like a whisper. Let's face it, a teenager like me should be out there with friends going to beach parties, throwing make up on each others face… For me, nothing's going to be like that. I will always be that girl who's hiding in her room during weekends and will work in a coffee shop whose co-worker despises her. The girl who'll read books until she falls asleep, and the girl who will spill paint all over her clothes. That's me.

"Sorry. I completely forgot your whole life story." He looks at me, "I am your friend now." He smiles at me and I smile back.

Perhaps Luke and the man in my dreams are really my friends.

"Alice, my mom made dinner for tomorrow… She wants to meet my new friends. She always does that every time we move. So, are you in?" He asks me.

"Sure. I'm in." I wanted to say no. He already made lots of friends in this school. I don't want to repeat what happened last time I got invited to a party. This is not a party. Oh yay! My subconscious is here to confuse me over and over.

"I'll pick you up at 6?" He asks again, looking excited.

"Okay."

Silence filled the air as I read my book. I kinda like the feeling of having a friend. It's been along time since I smiled or laughed because of someone. I never expected Luke to be my friend since he was just like one of them but I guess you can't really judge a book by its cover.

"Do you know who made those paintings hanging along the corridor?" Luke breaks in my thoughts. For a second I wanted him to repeat what he just asked but that would make me more awkward.

"Oh! Those paintings… Well they are cool but I don't like them." I lie.

"What do you mean you don't like them? They are very beautiful. The artist must be a billionaire, I mean he could sell those paintings for tons of money." You mean she. As flattered as I am right now and how I wanted to tell Luke that I am the painter, I had to lie.

"Yeah, right." I find my throat suddenly dry and can't find words to say. I guess lying wasn't made for me.

We hear the bell and we both proceed to our class.

Most of my class went well except for Mathematics. I just got hit by a paper plane that unluckily contain the wrong answers for our seat work, and to make matters worst Mr. Syvian thought it was mine. Yay, right? It's like "Congratulations! You won a 3 days detention!". It really is my luck that the answers were wrong, if not, I'd get suspended or 1 month detention. I became the class clown for 45 minutes. As I get out of the main door, the snow is already falling. A smile escapes from my mouth and I find Luke on his car watching me.

"Want me to take you home?" He shouts.

I shake my head and walk away. He has already done a lot of things for me and driving me home would cause chaos. Luke is handsome lad, which means tons of girls like him and I am already getting enough hate so, no. I hear a car behind me. Great

"Luke, no." I turn around and he laughs at my expression.

"I won't take no for an answer." Wow! I've seen this in a movie before.

He opens the car door and I get in. His car is looks luxurious because of its color; red. I teach him the directions and we arrive at our house safe.

"Okay, bye now." I say in a hurry.

"Bye! Pick you up tomorrow." He smirks and runs his car.
