“Acid pops” I said to the gargoyle and it slid open hastily.
I ducked inside my black hair following shortly after. I looked around, here it was, the study that Albus has vacated for now. But he wasn’t what I was looking for.
I needed to act fast and make sure that I wasn’t caught. Few knew about the existence of these magical artefacts but I however was only looking for the one.
I became frantic I just needed one look, one look at… HER. I turned my robes catching on the secret doorway I had seldom come to look at and inside was the pensive. Granted it was not this that had brought me to his study at night, but if I could, if I could have just one look at Lily, My Lily.
I began to cry, hot tears forming and then running off the end on my abnormally large nose, I had always hated my nose, that I had always receiving teasing about , especially James.
Argh James, the word repulsed me, I spat it like I had a bad taste in my mouth. I remembered what I was supposed to be doing and could never tell anyone my ‘good side’ as Albus called it especially The Dark Lord. I lifted my wand to my head and concentrated, so hard my head strained and my wand managed to take something silvery and wispy overhung at the end of my wand.
I slid it off my wand and into the pensive that had just started sliding from out of the doors. The water went foggy and I plunged my head in. I landed.
“Levicorpus” A voice said behind me, and I recognised it at once and knew I was in the right memory. I turned around and there I was dangling like a rag doll on command of James’ wand. My face went red. As all the blood rushed to my head. I felt humiliation radiating off of my sallow skin.
“Put him DOWN James” Said a beautiful voice, I turned around and there she was, James swivelled me around so I could face her too. I was so grumpy and humiliated that I would rather give my whole house up to take back the unforgiving word I uttered after that.
“Mudblood” I spat. I immediately heard what I had said, I called after her but it was too late, the damage was done.
The bell rung and after having lost concentration James, Sirius, Remus & Peter lost interest in me and ran to get to class. I dropped to the ground.
“Oof” I said to myself as I fell to the ground. I ran to class hating myself.
I rushed through space and landed on the office floor. I was crying again. I began a frantic search of the office and there it was, half encased in an old snitch. I reached for it, the thing I had been looking for.
I picked it up; It was cold, as all rocks are. I thought of Lily and unfortunately I thought of James as well and how their marriage had affected me. I turned the stone thrice in my hand and when I looked up it took the whole world and more to stop me from crying in happiness, sadness, and grief. There she stood as beautiful as ever. James was behind her, somehow not as intimidating as he was.
“Severus” She said my name, I broke lose. Hot tears formed and kept forming. I felt like a baby.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I’m so, so, so sorry” I cried sadly I howled like a wolf.
She looked sympathetic, more than I deserved. James looked ready to interject but Lily held her hand up silencing him.
“I know you’re sorry Severus.” She said over my howls.
“We can’t undo the past Severus; it’s the future that’s at stake.” She said to me and I cried more.
“Snivellus” James started and Lily sent him a warning glance. So he changed directions.
“Severus” he corrected himself, I immediately stopped crying and looked at him trying to stop the scathing look I wanted to give him, and I fought the urge to yell at him that he had ruined my life. But I knew it wasn’t right because I had ruined my life by calling Lily ‘mudblood’. I had shut her out, I had told The Dark Lord. It was me all me.
“Severus”, James continued.
“Severus how’s our Harry?”
“Hes good” I murmured.
“In fact, he looks exactly like you, J-James.” I said and Lily beamed.
“But he has your eyes though” I told her sadly. She beamed even brighter and oddly reminded me of Albus how he had the biggest smile. This smile that was beaming at me now and I felt like we were 11 again and how we were best friends.
“But Severus” Lily started.
“After all this time?” She asked
I hesitated before answering.
“Expecto Patronum” My sliver doe burst out of the end of my wand and said to her.
“Always”
I saw a flicker of curiosity before I dropped the stone.
