Quinn
I opened my eyes to find the hallway light on. I walked down the hall and entered a dining room with a candlelit dinner table. I saw one of the slenders sitting in a chair with a big grin on his face. "Come sit my dear." He said. He used one of his tentacles to offer a chair to me. I walked over and sat down in the chair. I looked down at my plate and found my most favorite food. Steak with corn on the cob. "Uh, thanks?" I said.
"Oh don't thank me." He said. He just stared at me across the table with the silly grin across his face. I looked down at the steak and began to cut it. He continued to stare at me but I didn't mind. At one time, I stood up and took my plate to walk around the living room. I brought back a barrel full of movies and books and began to dump them all over the table. "If we're really gonna set the mood, then we gotta make the mood." I said. His response to that was his grin getting wider. "Well why don't we my dear?" He grabbed my wrist and took me to a room. He switched a light on and I peeked inside.
To my surprise, there was a flat screen TV, a bed, a furnace, a fluffy couch, and a nice roaring fire. I ran over to the pile of movies and dug through, picking out a musical movie titled Phantom of the Opera.
I squealed silently and led him into the room and over to the couch. I put the movie in and he asked me what was happening. "Well this is a story about a man whose face was deformed and he was despised for it so much that he was nicknamed the 'Devil's Child'. He meets a gal whom sings well and they fall in love but then a man who I shall not name came in riding on a angelic horse and took the gal away; leaving the fallen angel all alone." I began to tear up a bit at the end. "Sounds like me." He mumbled. I looked at him and noticed his grin fade away.
"What happened?" I asked. He looked at me and seemed to be lost in thought. His grin then came back and he took a deep breath. He took his hands in mine and began to tell me his sob story. I grabbed a bucket of nearby popcorn and ate while he told his story.
"I was a normal boy whom had no face. I was ridiculed for my looks but all the girls at the school loved me. They loved a man whose face was unbearable to look at! One of my closet friends abandoned me with those bullies. Those monsters who would constantly hurt me. I decided to just ignore it. Then one day, I invited one of my childhood friends over who I had a crush on. So in order to show my affection, I kissed her and asked her out. She rejected me by saying 'You're ugly! You have no face!' That was the moment I knew...I would never be loved. I would never have someone to hold close by the fire. I decided to just forget everything. Burn everything I knew of. I ran away and lost contact with each and every one. But I still happen to visit my brothers every now and then. I ran away into a town and decided that it would be best to let myself do what I pleased. Once a woman came in, they wouldn't return the same."
He ended with saying: "A rose is what made them choose their fate. If they wished to be loved then let them die a broken heart. But for blue, they would die in an instant in my arms. Close to me and where they wished to be."
I had gotten a tub of ice cream for us both while he went on about his old lovers. I basically tried to keep from throwing myself onto him and hugging him like a mother would. I heard the door open and turned to see a man wearing a brown long sleeved shirt and black pants. He had a mug with a cat on it. "Brother, you always amaze me." He turned around and walked down the hall. I heard his footsteps fading away.
I looked back at Offender and saw him reaching for the tub of ice cream. I smacked his hand and he became furious. "You didn't say the magic p word." I said. He wrapped one of his tentacles around my neck and pulled me close to his face. "I would kill you on the spot but I wouldn't wish to mess everything else up." He hissed. I scooped up a spoonful of chocolate ice cream and stuffed it into his mouth. He dropped me and ate the sweet treat. "What is this heavenly goodness?" He asked.
He grabbed the tub of ice cream and began to devour it all. "Chocolate mint chip strawberry ice cream! Homemade. I never leave home without it." I crossed my arms as I watched him eat the rest. He licked his face with his white tongue and attempted to let out a burp. "Excuse me. But may I have more?" He said. "Tsk, tsk. What's the magic word?" I said. If he was hot, he might as well be a gentleman. "Fine. Pretty please with a cherry on top?" He said.
"Good boy!" I opened a trunk and pulled out a sundae with a bright red cherry on top. "Here ya go!" I handed him a spoon and watched as he dug in. I knew a way into a friend's heart.
