Chapter 5

The next morning I was on a natural high.
It was 9am and I had to be at work at 11. I hopped in the shower real quick. When I got out I found a cute blouse and skirt to wear. I liked to look sexy even though I worked at a law firm. I don't like to use my body to get ahead but it came with perks. Sometimes my boss would let me be on a lot of his big cases and I got help easily if I needed it. But don't get it twisted I work harder then any other clerk in that law firm. Late nights and loads of work.

I finished putting my hair in a high bun and added purple lipstick to match my black skirt.

I grabbed my keys and rushed out the door.

I walked into the firm with my head held high and confidence in every step I walked. The law firm was like a ocean full of sharks. They could smell weakness especially since I'm a female.

Hey Faith ! My coworker Keisha said while walking towards me with a big grin on her face.

Hey Keisha

How was your weekend?

It was good. I had a good time out.

That's good, sorry I couldn't come out for your birthday. But I had loads of work to handle.

It's fine money comes first.

Still though I wanted to see you for birthday. Well see you at lunch.

Like I said its fine girl and yea course.

I walked into my miniature office. It was small but I was grateful for it. Not everybody got one. Only a few of us did. This is one of the reason why I think the rest of the ladies here didn't really like me. But hey you can't be liked by everyone. I wasn't stressing over it.

I got straight into work. Cases, files, evidence etc.....Hours went by until I looked up to see the clock, it was time for lunch. I stacked my work up on my desk then headed to the elevator.

As I stepped on to the elevator I heard someone yell "Hold the door !" I quickly put my hand up to hold the doors.

My coworker Dean stepped on to the elevator.

So you meeting someone for lunch?while eyeing me up and down.

Well yes I am, I'm meeting Keisha.

Me and Dean had establish a work/flirting relationship. It never got past that. I never seen myself with him even though he had money and looked pretty good.

Aren't you tired of eating with her? How about one day you switch it up and have lunch with me?, he looked down staring at me until I gave him an answer.

Hmm I'll think about it.

Okay , see you later Faith, he said while winking at me.

Uhuh, I stepped off the elevator.

I walked one block down til I arrived at the Red Cafe. There was Keisha waiting for me.

On time as usual, I said while sitting.

Yupp, I ordered for us already if you don't mind.

No, I'm pretty sure whatever you ordered will be good. I'm starving anyways. I'll eat a horse right now.

Well I got you tilepia fish and pink lemonade. Ordered myself salmon with garlic and a diet coke.

A diet coke?? For what

I'm trying to stay in shape

Girl there's nothing wrong with your body. Your beautiful.

She smiled at me and said thank you.
I honestly did mean what i said to her. She was really pretty. I always knew she was alittle insecure but I can't stand when people put themselves down.

Suddenly her smile faded

Brandon's cheating on me...

Aww Brandon was Keisha boyfriend for two years. But she start having suspicions he was up to something recently.

Wow he can't be! He was so nice and treated you good.

I saw the messages and the bitch he fucking with. He says I'm boring. He had the nerve to say he love me but that bitch just something to keep him entertained. I should be happy now I don't have to worry about pleasing him.
She put her head in her hands and start crying.

I felt so bad for her. Keisha loved him so much. She did anything for him if she could.
But was this nigga stupid?! To say some stupid hurtful shit like that to her. He bold as fuck. Two years down the drain, wow!
So what are you going to do now?

Idk we been together 2years. Can I really walk away from all that? I put in a lot of work. I know he loves me but he just made a mistake....

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I knew she was insecure a little but didn't think she would accept bullshit.

Keisha this man cheated on you and probably is going to continue cheating on you !! He didn't even admit to making a mistake he's trying to make it like it's your fault that he cheated! Please don't be this stupid.
I know that was harsh but I had to tell the truth.

Faith you don't know how it feels! ... I don't know what to do without him. I just don't know. I wish I never knew.

I stood up and looked down at her with sorrow in my eyes. I'm a good friend and as a friend I will not let you look stupid. If you choose to go back to him. Then oh well there's nothing I can really do. I won't stand by your decision. Just know whenever he says he going out or doing something you won't ever be able to fully trust him. I hope you can live like that.

Tears start flowing down her face.

I kissed on her cheek and left out the cafe.

I headed back to work and tried to get things done but I was still stuck on my lunch date with Keisha. This just proves to me that niggas ain't shit. There's not that many that will be loyal to their girl when their girl holds them down no matter what.

I packed up and headed home early I wasn't going to get anything done today.
While walking out I saw Dean again.

I'm holding you to the lunch date, he said

I never agreed to anything but sure.

Ok let me get your number for I can let you know.
I typed my number in his phone.

I'm going to save you under "my office beauty"
I laughed ,ok

Suddenly J.D popped in my head but I brushed it aside. Shit he probably playing me just like every other fool.
I'm keeping my options open.

I said my goodbyes and left.
