As the ranger slowly walked in and looked at me, his beady eyes meeting mine it sent a shiver down my shell.
" How are you doing?" The ranger asked in his low raspy voice. It made a shiver go down my
shell, he never really talked to anyone. "O-okay.." I managed to speak my voice barely audible. " You sound horrible...." the rangers voice echoed across the room again as he spoke, louder this time. " When will I g-get out of here?" " Whenever, you are healed up, you can, but u can't resume your duty as an E.M.T again." "O-oh... now that my dreams have bern crushed can you leave please?" "Oh... uhm.... I didn't mean to hurt you in any way I-" " It's fine just go..." "...Take care then....."
When he had left me on the hospital bed, my heart crushed by his words I tried to fall asleep but failed. His words kept me awake... "Resume again" who's even going to be in place of me? How long do they plan to have me gone? We barely have anyone as it is, come to mention it how are the mother and daughter doing....? Regardless, if they come see me then at least I can set my worries aside for just a little bit...maybe...just...maybe. When I get out of here I'll still go get supplies and fulfill my duty without even working, I'll get paid because I can't work and I need to live but if I woke up at dawn then maybe I can get some places covered before that crab starts my shift, 9:00 a.m. sharp. I would go and gather supplies, for everyone... I want to help them as much as I can. Especially when this crab may or may not be part of the E.M.T. unit. I'm going to work when I get out of this place no matter what, there lives matter more than mine at this point...
