 Chapter 1: Junkyard Sweeties ~♥

I walked among the wreckage of littered trash, and other unmentionable things. This place of a wasteland barren and cold, whispered of a city in the defused lights. Disarrayed in a multitude of the discarded and discord. I watched on as the dusk appeared in the skyline quietly taking over the sunlight in triumph.  We needed to hurry on to the repair shop. Knowing that lately parts had gone up in prices everywhere else. Economy.

"Hey squirt, find a rag doll and lets be on our way okay." I said with a wistful smile squinting under the gaze of the sunset.

My recent and new companion seemed to be orphaned and misguided as he was stumbling around when I found him and wouldn't dare speak a word. A destroyed building in rumble around him as he cried. He wasn't transfixed by what I really was, and for that I was grateful, it was one of the small comforts for myself.

The little boy walked around kicking at the dirt and trash till he found a very dirty and badly stitched teddy bear, tugging on my leg  to make me examine it closer. I halfheartedly chucked to myself at how precious he was.

"Its wonderful, and this is your friend?" I pointed to the teddy bear and he solemnly nodded shaking his head up and down. He had a quality that almost made me feel, human. As I picked him up and put him on my shoulders feeling how bony he was, it made me realize how cruel our world had became.

"Hey buddy there might even be ice cream!" I whispered tugging onto him. His little head looked down facing me with eyes wide and excited. I walked on towards where the booming noise was coming from, a city among the ghost towns hidden in the devastated bombings of the past.

As we neared I put my companion down and cleaned him and myself, trying to make us presentable, but more dirt came out in a haze smoke. The wind turned harsh where we were, bellowing and such. I sighed deeply to myself clicking my arms in a automatic lock.

Sheepishly relaxed and absentminded of what I was stepping into, in this bustling world. Soon we were upon the shop in question, as I thought more so of the strangeness of the boy.  As he leaped into me at full speed. My dulled senses shot into overdrive grabbing him before his intentional impact.

Before I knew it we were racing towards the shady streets and shops of the forgotten. It was over populated, with different people and the out casted and outmoded. I felt just as excited as the boy, as he pointed at the old school technology and laughed bemusing at the performers.

"The people here, are more friendly then the people in the city." I remarked lightly to him, picking him up as I saw his eyes dropping his sleepy head laying atop mine. His delicate curls of light electric blue covered my eyes as I scanned for the shop. Closing my eyes and shutting down that part of my system, just listening around us and before I knew it we were in front of the shop.

The shop itself was plain looking and simple with not much of a show of what it sold in the front and there was a purpose behind that given the recent happenings in the city. But when you entered the shop it was a wonderland of parts old and new displayed exquisitely  and carefully advertising for any customer.

Eureka the owner was a sight in many ways because she still had some of the older models attached with newer parts, her pink hair hung long all around her, moving just as much as she did.  While her clothes were a mix of the street wear of a ragamuffin mixed with city style. Her skin a pure white was as pale as the moon itself, while her liquid golden eyes were intense face on.

"Well Hello Darling!" She uttered excitedly, stopping at the sight of the boy, she looked down at him and smiled brightly laughing to herself. She took out her remote x-raying my status and updating my systems. Glancing frequently at the kid with me. She winked at me with her long golden lashes and chuckled as I blushed slightly.

"Let me talk to the Doc, Sann about what you need repaired. Oh and Vexx wants to talk to you about something private in the back room we're having tea. So just go back there. I'll keep your little friend company. Ok?" She said with a quizzical look as I passed her and walked toward the back doors with rabbit door knobs and a little blond girl wondering off in a forest. As Eureka waited she had a quiet smile tugging at her golden lips she sat close to the boy.

"Hey pet, you got a name?" She asked softly patting the boys shoulder lightly. He shook his sleeply head in a nod.

"Do you want some ice cream?" The boys eyes budged at the mention of it as Eureka laughed to herself hurrying to get him some ice cream and humming to some tune of the town.As she handed him the cone he smiled happily at her, giving her a shock of familiarity.

"Hey pet, are you okay if I twink something real quick, its been a pain all day." She cocked a quizzical brow, jokingly towards him.

"Um Sure." The Boy uttered softly towards the floor.

"Oh thank goodness, thank you I hope it doesn't um repulse you."

She gazed at the blue haired wide eyed child with curiosity on his whereabouts. She'd never seen a child so young. She slowly pulled out her tech box placing it around her carefully. She removed the bindings around her arm and peeled off the synthetic dyed skin showing her metal arm, tinkering and fixing it as bolts twisted here and there, her tongue stuck out and she she sighed happily putting the skin over her arm and fixing the bindings. I

"This is much better!" She stretched her arm, swinging it and stretching it. The boy noticed as her arm went into the sunlight you could see through the translucent skin and spot the mechianc's in a blinding glare.

"So do you have a name?" Eureka uttered  piercing the boy, all the while the boy was intrigued by her model.

"My friends called me Azure." He retorted while finishing his ice cream, yawning sleepily.

"Your names  beautiful, a city name if I ever heard one for the child with blue hair. Tell me how did you come across our friend?" She picked the boy up cradling him and lightly touching his hair.

"He found me, after the Neo came and blew the place to shiny smithereens, he picked me up from the destruction, and I cried for I knew. The City is dead." Azure whispered with tears brimming in his eyes.

Eureka listened intently and with serious consideration. The city was dead, it couldn't be This was the beginning of the 'Change' that all the townsfolk were talking of. But it was too soon.

"Little darling sleep now, the nightmares of the past are over, you are  safe now." She hummed tightly holding the boy as he muttered.

"And it Begins."
