Part I

Being a teenager is hard. Especially when you hear voices.

Ok. I get that most 16 year olds aren't desirable, particularly the smart ones.  You become an immediate social outcast. You basically have no friends.

V: What about me?  Don't I mean anything?

Oh yeah. I almost forgot to introduce you to one of the "voices" I hear.  His name is Virgil. He's, well, interesting. You see,  he has a really dark and dominant side, and he likes to lead me into situations that aren't exactly enjoyable to the sane.

A: How dare you introduce that imbecile before me! I'm better in every way imaginable and you know it. I'll give you a second chance.

Ugh. That's Annalise. She never shuts up,  normally.

A: Seriously?!

What?! I'm being honest.  Anyway, she tries to reason with Virgil.(Although, she really isn't successful in such quests) There are moments when Virgil makes me do things.  Inexplicable things. And Annalise is like the aunt that no one will listen to. Well, most of the time.

I go to Inovia Highschool. If you couldn't already tell, socializing isn't exactly my most prominent skill,  but I do my best. I guess I have a couple of regular friends, but they know nothing of my other, "friends". I don't know how they would react if they heard about them either, seeing as I don't want them finding out about th-

V: Not now, you fool! We can't have them run away like the others!

A: I hate to admit it, but Virgil's right.

Ok.  Nevermind. Let's just say I have a tainted past.

Anyway, my friends are pretty cool. Well, cool to me. Gina is 17,and she's absolutely amazing. She's super smart, and dare I say, highly attractive. She has beautiful green eyes that sparkle like emeralds in the sunlight, and untamed sandy brown curls that fall off her shoulders. *sigh* Too bad she's a lesbian.

V: Stop drooling and get on with it.

Shut up Ann. Next is Reggie. He's quite the character. Most people would describe him as the stereotypical nerd, what with his dark brown curls and giant frames. He's pretty skinny too. Meh. Not everyone is lucky like Gina.

These are my only real friends.  Sad, isn't it?

School has been pretty OK lately, considering I haven't lashed out yet. Gina sits on the other side of the cafeteria, waiting for Reggie and I to get to our designated table. Once we get our lunch(or should I say, poison), we proceed to socialize with the only teenagers we're comfortable with. Each other.

"Hey, Chris, what's wrong? You look flustered. "

"That's because Haley spoke to him today. "

"Fuck off, Reggie. I'm just thinking. "

"About? "

"Midterms and acne. The usual. "

A: That's a lie, darling. We can't lie.

Oh yes we can.

Just as I'm about to stuff my face with crusty old school pizza, something truly bizarre occurred. Haley Benningham was sitting at our table.
