The following week of school came quicker than expected. Although my mid terms are coming up, I can't seem to keep my mind focused on them. I keep thinking about...
V:Haley?
Yeah. Her.
A:I think that it would be in your best interest to forget about that little devil, and your plans for her. Understood?
You know what? I don't think that I want to keep listening to you Annalise. Everything you tell me gets me into fucked up situations. INCLUDING getting rejected and humiliated. Again.
A: A few unfortunate experiences shouldn't be so bad in your mind.
Half the school saw Haley do what she did. No thanks.
V: Sorry for jumping in on your bonding time, but we need to get to history. Like, right now.
Ok.
I make my way down the long hallways, and I can practically feel all the eyes boring holes into me. I swear, it's like I can cut the tension with a knife.
Once I get to my class, I spot Reggie in the back corner of the room; our usual seats. He looked at me like my puppy had just died when I sat down next to him.
"Hey dude, you okay? I saw what happened. "
"I'm fine, and half the school basically saw it. If they even remember it. "
Reggie moved his history textbook to the side and grabbed my arm. What now?
"I know it hurt, but don't go back to your old ways. "
V: Did he just-?
A: Yes. I believe he did.
Wow. He said that out loud. Oh yeah, you don't know what I'm talking about, do you? Allow me to fill you in.
A: Here we go with the backstory.
Please be quiet.
Anyway, remember how I said that I was 16? Well, when I was 14, I could've sworn that I was head over heels in love with a girl in my math class named Christy. She was so beautiful-
V: On the outside.
Virgil, I'm talking. Like I was saying, she was very attractive. She had the best grades, and she had plenty of friends. But, I knew that since she was popular, she would never want me.
Because of this, I tried everything I could to change for her. Nothing I ever did worked. Like, ever. Once I had decided to just give up on love, she asked me out to lunch. I literally thought that I would die.
V: Yeah, me too. To be honest, I think everyone was in awe at that moment.
A: Let the boy speak.
V: Technically he's thinking. If he was speaking, we'd be getting some weird stares by now.
A: True. Ahem. Proceed, Christopher.
Do you want to tell the story, since you can't seem to stop interrupting me?
V: Uh, I think I'll pass.
Exactly. Back to what I was saying. She and I met up that Saturday night at this cute little smoothie joint about a block away from her house. I was always used to getting made fun of for being the weird kid who never really spoke, so having a girl that I liked like me back, was truly a gift from the heavens.
Or so I thought.
You see, she obviously knew that I had been made fun of. So, being one of the most popular girls in school, she brought as many kids as she could with her to see if I would show up. Once I stepped in the small building, my gigantic smile turned to a look of worry.
Christy was standing in the front of what looked like some kind of pyramid formation, and they all held smoothies in their hands.
"Umm, Christy, what's going on?"
"You're finally gonna see what happens when people like you get their hopes up."
Before I knew it, everyone opened their cups and did the best that they could dumping the cold, sweet liquid all over me.
"As if I would ever love you, nerd. You're a freak. "
To this day, those words have stuck with me. That's why I don't really let my guard down. The following week of school was horrid. Everybody whispering more than they usually did when I walked by, and people pointing and laughing at me. It was worse than before.
So, I decided to hurt her just as bad as she had hurt me.
I remember her talking about going to some party, so I soon found out about from talk around the school. The reason I picked this was because I knew of an abandoned warehouse close to the location of said party.
Soon the night came, and my parents let me go. They thought I would make friends or something. I had managed to sneak a bottle of chloroform and a cloth in my jacket. The warehouse is where I used to spend free time, stealing weapons and such from around town.
Once I got in the party, I found her in an instant. She was getting something from the kitchen, and my did she look gorgeous. But that didn't matter now. I made my way towards her, chloroform packed cloth ready and in hand.
Know one was near her, so I just went for it. She struggled, but within a few seconds she was out like a light. I got her out of the back door and dragged her for about a mile and a half to that warehouse I talked about. Once we arrived, I just stood there for 15 minutes.
I really did miss coming here. The sudden scent of hot metal arose from inside the giant building. Since I remembered where everything was, I wasted no time. I grabbed a chair from the corner and got some rope from one of the shelves on the wall. I quickly tied her to the chair and placed a cloth in her mouth as a gag.
Soon she woke up and started thrashing around and screaming. Well, trying to scream. Her hair was a tangled mess and most of it was stuck to her forehead. She had mascara running down her face.
V: Such a beautiful girl, she was. Especially in that moment.
A: Sicko.
V: You know it! Go on, Chris.
Like I said, she was she was trying her absolute best to escape. Then her eyes landed on me, and they widened. I could her her muffled words as if they weren't muffled at all. I'm sorry. It's too late for that now, honey.
Before she could say anything else, I got close to her face. She had so much fear in her eyes, and I couldn't hold back any longer. I took a scalpel off of the shelf behind her, and I began to carve my name underneath her collarbone. Deeper and deeper I cut. Once I was done, I licked the blood from the blade and went on with my job.
I started carving hearts into her thighs and upper arms. Then I threw the scalpel across the room and waited, listening to her scream. How I miss that sweet, sweet sound of her sobbing, begging me to let her go.
It was nice at first, but then it got annoying. I grew angry, and I just slit her throat with my pocket knife right then and there. I took it upon myself to leave her there, silently hoping someone would find her. A monument. My monument.
Don't mess with the nerd, stupid bitch.
A few months after that, I was found out, and I got sent to a mental hospital for having bipolar disorder and psychopathic tendencies. That's when I met Reggie. He was sent there for depression and anorexia. We were roommates. And although I know that what I did was wrong, I couldn't help but gain pleasure from it. This, Reggie understood. We had planned to escape together, but he got let out before I did. The nurses found out about my schizophrenia after that and I was put into electroshock therapy. Not to mention the pills. Two weeks later, I was let out. Turns out Reggie and I lived in the same neighborhood. We've been best friends ever since.
Welp, I guess that shows you why I want to completely mutilate Haley. A girl hurt me before, and I hurt her. And I honestly can't wait to do it again.
