'Young CEO, Lee Hyun, once again proved herself worthy of the company.'
'Lee Hyun, Korea's precious gem.'
'Lnet reached its highest peak since Lee Hyun takes over.'
A smile crept on my face, you did it again Lee Hyun. I stretched my arms and rested my head on the headrest of my office chair, looking up to the plain white, ceiling.
'Are you proud of me yet, mom... dad...'
I sighed and took out some paperwork that was due today. More offers to make survival shows, reality shows... I massaged the temples of my head. I totally need a break from this.
"Miss Hyun, your aunt is here." I heard my secretary, Lin, say from outside my office.
"Hello, my dear niece. It's been a long time since we last saw each other." The glass door to my office slid open revealing my gorgeous aunt. Her red stilettos clicked as she walked towards my desk. The white laced dress she was wearing accentuates her curves beautifully. A black, newly released Gucci bag hung on her left arm. She kicked her stilettos off and sat on my desk.
"How's my niece doing?" She asked while looking at her, I assume, freshly done manicure. She placed her long, perfectly curled brown hair to her right side.
"Hm, fine I guess." I sulked, resting my arm on my marble desk.
"Now why the sad tone? Be like me! Young, wild and free!" She raised her fist in the air, laughing.
My aunt, she's already 30 but is still not married. She has her own clothing line, and it's doing very well, so I guess she won't be finding a partner soon. Her beauty never fails to sway some men, but she always rejects them kindly. "Focusing on my career" is what she says.
"Why don't you have a boyfriend huh?" She smirked and nudged my arm. She always likes to tease me about this matter.
"Go ask yourself that..." I mumbled almost inaudibly. Hope she doesn't hear that.
"Hey, you're still 19. Go outside and venture the world. Charm all the boys with your face girl!" She poked my cheek and giggled. I rubbed the spot she poked and frowned.
"Cheer up Hyun. How about..." She paused, rubbing her chin, as if thinking hard.
"A vacation! That's what you need! Am I right?" She pointed at me and clapped her hands in delight.
My face brightened up at the word vacation. I pictured myself in a beach, enjoying the summer breeze, without a worry at all, sipping a mocktail.
"Yes please!!" I clasped my hands together and looked at my aunt with the best puppy-eyed look I could offer.
"Hm, how about Busan? Does that seem okay?"
"Anywhere will do!"
"It's settled then. As you go, I will take over the company. Your vacation will last 5 days. Is that enough?" She mused.
"It is more than enough!"
"You can leave tomorrow, with our private plane. Just call me when you want to leave, alright?" She winked at me and smiled.
"Thank you so much!" I hugged her tightly. She was all that I have after all. I won't know what to without her. She almost seemed like a sister figure to me.
"No problem dear. Now, I'll get going okay? Take care." She kissed my cheek, slipped on her red stilettos, and waved me goodbye. I grinned and waved back. I leaned back on my chair, my heart fluttered at the thought of going to vacation, taking a break from all this work. It could get stressful at times.
I placed all my paperwork back into its rightful drawer, picked up all my belongings and headed out of my office.
"Lin! Guess what!" I gripped Lin's shoulder's and shook them back and forth.
"I know, I heard it. A vacation." She replied in a blunt tone.
"Yes!" I hugged her tight, letting her go shortly. "I'll get going now. Better start packing." I waved my fingers and quickly walked out of the building.
I fished out my car keys from my bag and pressed the on button. My car beeped from a distance and I quicken my pace even more. I entered my red Porche and started the engine immediately. I couldn't wipe the smile out off my face. I hit the gas and drove off to my house.
In the span of 15 minutes, I arrived at my house. I parked the car and dashed into the house.
"Welcome back Miss Hyun." Nami bowed.
I kicked off my heels and ran up to my room, totally pumped to pack my stuff. I heaved my suitcase out of my wardrobe and started to pack the things I'll need in Busan.
"Hm, 5 shirts, 4 bottoms, a bathing suit, undergarments...." I tapped my chin with my pointer finger. "What else?"
"Oh! My skincare and makeup!" I rushed to my dressing table and placed all the necessary skincare and makeup in one big yellow pouch.
I stuffed all my clothes and other things in the suitcase. All ready. I blew my bangs and plopped on my bed, exhausted. I can't wait for tomorrow.
My stomach grumbled, telling me it wants to be filled with food. I moved over to my right and pressed the bell button. Few moments later, a maid goes in.
"Yes Miss?"
"Will you be kind enough to prepare simple dinner for me?" I requested. I don't like to order my maids and other servants in the house.
"Why of course Miss. Right away." She bowed and exited my room. I stared at the white, marble walls of my room. On one wall, there hangs my family picture took 5 years ago.
Mom's luscious jet black hair was pinned back to a tight bun. Her high cheekbones and bright brown eyes were breath taking you could say. Her small smile is even more beautiful. People say I take over my mom. Dad was just as handsome as the rumors speculated. His gleaming smile was on every paper in the country.
And then there's me. Fourteen year-old me. Smiling ever so widely.
"Miss, dinner is here." I heard a knock from my door.
"Come in."
The maid scurried in and placed the freshly cooked dinner of spaghetti on my bedside table.
"Enjoy your meal Miss."
"Thank you." My mouth watered at the sight of spaghetti. I quickly devoured everything in a blink of an eye.
"Ah, so full." I patted my tummy in satisfaction. I yawned and stretched my arms up. Yup, just after I eat dinner, I get sleepy and sleep. What a pig I am.
I turned off my nightlight and smiled to myself thinking of the holiday I have tomorrow. Can this day get any better?
