..........................................

As the orange sky was slowly fading into purple with the setting sun, a little girl looked around herself searching for a familiar figure, her eyes blurry with tears, a sob escaped her mouth. She sat down on the sand, sniffling, as her legs hurt from roaming around for so long in search of her Chachu. Its been awhile since she left the guards side, who was supposed to take care of her, in order to catch the balloon which slipped her tiny hand and now she was not able to find her way back.

A girl halted in her tracks at the sight of the small girl crying with no adult around her, she waited a few seconds for someone to step forward when the realization settled in that she was probably lost. She rushed towards the girl to pacify her and one look at her cute little face, her heart went out for her, she was the most adorable kid she had ever seen, the sight of her plump cheeks now covered with tears and snot and her nose pink fuelled her with anger towards the person who made her cry.

"Hey angel! Why are you crying?" she asked while scooting down to her level.

The little girl looked up at the stranger with fear, but the warm eyes gazing down at her instantly sheltered her in their comfort, though too choked up to say anything she blinked up at the warm eyed girl who was now wiping her tears.

"Who are you here with baby? Are you lost? I can help you."

"Main chachu ke chath aayi thi ...vo mele liye ilse-cleam(ice-cream) lene gaye the pl ab mili hi nhi rahe" She told her hiccuping in between.

"Sona! Who is this and why is she crying?" They both looked up at Sona's friend cum cousin Elena who was staring at them wide eyed.

"I don't know Ele, she is so scared, poor baby. She is lost....oh god Ele how can someone be so careless with a kid?" Sona couldn't help but grunt out her frustration at the baby's guardian.

Ele agreed pitifully, as they both tried to comfort her. She went quite after telling them that her name is Aarohi but now and then a sob would escape her.

"We will take you to your Chachu. Let's go" Ele said standing up, Aarohi perked up at that but soon shook her head in denial "No, mumma says not to go with strangers."

"Your mumma is right angel. Never go anywhere with strangers but we are friends. right.? Sona said intertwining her hands with her tiny ones and smiled at her sweetly.

"Really!?" she asked wide eyed "Do you know my Chachu?"

"ofcourse! We're his friends too. We'll take you to him." She asked finally picking her up in her arms.

"How? aap chachu ki galflend ho?" She enquired innocently and Sona looked at Ele for help who quipped in saying "Yes baby she is his girlfriend" They just wanted to help her, so a small lie won't hurt, Sona thought and shrugged it but how she deduced girlfriend from a friend Sona didn't want to think. He must be a playboy, wow first irresponsible and now a playboy she thought disgusted by the person even before meeting him.

They would take her to the police station and whoever this idiot chachu was, Sona hoped, would have a mind to file a lost complaint. As they neared her car, a panicked voice shouted from behind.

"Hey you stop! Aarohi! Aarohi!" A tall man rushed towards them and took the kid from Sona's hold and peppered her with kisses all over her face "Oh princess where did you go? I was so worried." who mumbled something incoherent in return and hugged him, happy to be back in her chachu's arms . He finally breathed in relief and turned to Sona, all softness gone from before "Where were you taking her?"

"Excuse me! First you leave the girl all alone to do god knows what and now you have the audacity to look mad at me. Do you realize how things could have turned out if not for me. What if some goon saw her all alone and vulnerable. I mean how can you be so careless with a Kid. I was taking her to the police station ofcourse! I am responsible unlike you. and now you're coming at me like I am at fault here." Sona had no intention of going out at him like that when she saw how worried he was but his hard voice edged her to her outburst. Anybody would have cowered at his voice but not Sona.

"Sona calm down for all he thought we were kidnappers." Ele reasoned but shut her mouth quickly when Sona glared at her.

The man looked amused and impressed at her outburst because he always had people cowering in front of him just by a look so this was definitely new for him but before he could refute her charges, a panicked looking police constable rushed towards them "D-Dev sir, s-sorry sir, sir aaru baby ka haath ek second ke liye choda tha or next second to vo gayab, sir jaanbhooj ke nahi kiya s-sir sorry"

Instead of paying attention to the apologizing guard, he raised an eyebrow towards Sona as if taunting her for her wrong accusations , while she defiantly clicked her tongue at the side of her cheek and sat down in her car keeping her 'I don't give a fuck' face on while internally punching herself, embarrassed, for running her tongue without thinking, of course he had every right to ask where we were taking his niece, but he could have asked nicely she thought trying to reason with herself for her behaviour but deep down she knew she was in the wrong this time but despite that she couldn't bring herself to apologise to him because of the mocking look in his eyes.

Dev cracked a small smile as her car left, too amused at her behaviour and finally paid attention to the mess of a constable "Chachu! Vasu uncle ki galti nahi hai vo to main apna ballon lene ke liye bhagi thi. I'm solly too" Aarohi said good naturedly, pouting. He smiled down at her dotingly, she had him wrapped around her finger she was right, anything could have happened to her he shuddered thinking about that and tightened his hold on her.

"It's okay Vasu ji. I know you didn't do it on purpose and my princess is safe now. That's all that matters but make sure there should be no next time" He said sternly putting the constable out of his misery.

Vasu was an old constable who was appointed as Dev Dixit's personal concierge of sorts by government four years ago when he completed his probation and was officially given the post of an IPS but this was the first time Dev didn't reprimand him for his mistake, he never disrespected him by any chance but he was an angry young man and also a perfectionist, making him a short tempered loose cannon who everyone feared. So to say Vasu was relieved and shocked that Dev let him go so easily and especially when it was about his family, would be an understatement, because that guy loved his family to death and let's just say negligence on anyone's part was not handled so lightly but Vasu was not a fool to point that out. He seemed in a good mood strangely and Vasu thanked his lucky stars for that.
