Odd One Out Chapter 3

I awoke in the middle of the night and groaned in discomfort at waking up, before heading out to the living room to curl up on the couch with a small sigh. I HATED jetlag and it would take another hour just to go back to sleep. I turned the TV on while putting it on low volume and blankly stared at it with little interest; sighing as I turned it off, standing up to grab a jacket and head out the door mentally remembering the way home.

It was pitch black outside but my eyes adjusted and I started walking down the sidewalk with head in the clouds, my mind a bit blurry, as I tried to walk off the jetlag I had. Teeth dug into lower lip and I saw a gas station so I decided to head in there for a while, to get my mind off things. I felt like a night owl wandering around so late at night but couldn’t help it and I searched the shelves for something to eat for the next morning, oblivious to the fact my hair was messy and I was wearing a simple tank-top with pajama pants.

On the way to the counter I bumped into someone and bit lower lip to stop from cursing, lifting gaze to apologize, “Excuse me, sorry for bumping into you. Jetlag.” Were the words that slipped out of my mouth as green eyes peered back at me and I quickly rubbed my eyes to see if I was imagining them.

“No worries, same here.” An English male voice greeted her who made me bite my lower lip hard in annoyance, then deciding to give a light nod to him and quickly paid for the food & drink I had. I waved at him and headed off back towards the apartment, frowning when I heard footsteps and I hurried up, rushing into the apartment to close the door behind me. I heard the door close from across the hall and pondered for a sec then shrugged my shoulders as I put the food up and headed back into the bedroom to sleep.

I awoke a few hours later and heard the TV running doing a glance over to the other bed to see Evelyn was gone, I groaned as I got up from the bed and heading to the bathroom to take a quick shower.

It turned out to be 30 minutes later and Aki quickly got dressed just by running a brush through my hair, not bothering to dry my hair and just let it air dry. I moved to the living room and screamed at Evelyn, laughing as she fell off the couch.

“FUCK AKI NEARLY GAVE ME A HEARTATTACK.” She yelled but Aki continued to laugh, shaking head and heading to the kitchen to get donut to snack on.

“Sorry about that Evelyn! I could have done worst and you know it.” I stuck my tongue out at Evelyn as I came back out of the kitchen, plopping down on the couch next to her ripping the donut in half and handing it to her. “What should we do today?  I mean we’re here for a few weeks so why don’t we go exploring?”

She huffed at Aki and gave me a light shove before taking the donut with a thoughtful expression, “We can roam around London? I’ve heard it’s a nice place and I want to go shopping!” She said this after the donut was gone, getting up and heading to the bedroom to get her stuff.

Aki smiled and turned off the TV, pulling on my shoes and heading to the door while patiently waiting for Evelyn to come out of the bedroom.

Opening the door as Evelyn came out all with her purse and a jacket worn on her shoulders, we headed outside and closed the door behind them as well as locking it. I heaved my purse onto my shoulder and they headed down the stairs.

I paused at the end of the stairs and turned to Evelyn, “So we’re going to wander around a bit walking and go shopping for some clothes?”

Evelyn titled her head but then nodded, “Sure are. Maybe find some items with The Wanted on them? You know they barely have anything in the US, so let’s see if we can find some around here!”

We had a moment to slightly flail before heading off down the street, taking pictures here and there as we laughed together clearly enjoying the sights.

Aki paused in front of a store and quickly grabbed Evelyn’s arm, “Look! There are some TW bracelets and t-shirts. We should get some but not spend too much money on them.” I exclaimed and dragged Evelyn into the store, grinning widely from ear to ear.

About an hour later we came out with 2-3 t-shirts for us both and bracelets with mine saying I <3 Nathan & I <3 Jay & I <3 Siva, while Evelyn’s said I <3 Tom & I <3 Max & I <3 Siva. It was a pretty exciting day for us and we decided to go exploring for the next few hours, wandering all over the place without a care in the world. In the end the sun was going down and made us decide to head home for the night, as we had enough exploring for the day and just wanted to settle down.  We headed back in the general direction we came and about an hour later we got to our apartment.

As the girls headed up the stairs Aki noticed that their neighbor’s door was opened and softly called out, “Hey um your door is open you might want to close it!” I yelled then turned around to unlock our door and was about to go inside when a voice stopped me, making me freeze mid-step.

“Ah! Thanks. So you’re our new neighbors?” The voice was English and it ringed in my head as something familiar and I turned around, Evelyn was already wide eyed, and Aki’s eyes got wide as Nathan Sykes was standing in the doorway with his messy hair hidden under a hat and green eyes were almost twinkling.

Evelyn elbowed Aki’s side and she glared at me while calming herself and smiling, “Yes we are. This is Evelyn and I’m Akiyama. Nice to meet you! I’m sorry for rushing this but we’re tired and going to settle in for the night, maybe talk to you later?” He gave a nod and went back into his apartment closing the door behind him.

Inside Aki was freaking the fuck out and quickly dragged Evelyn into the house locking the door, harshly whispering to her, “How the HELL did we end up living next to Nathan Sykes!?! This is not physically possible unless we got set up somehow.” I gritted my teeth together and resisted the urge to bite my nails, bad habit, as she wasn’t going to embarrass herself in front of him.

“Heck if I know! We just need to act normal and not freak out alright? We’re just lucky he didn’t see what we bought.” Evelyn whispered to Aki and they headed to the living room, flopping down on the couch. “So…maybe that’s what the screaming at the airport was all about? They came back from the US and are home now?” She mumbled to herself mostly but I could hear her.

“Seems like it. We can act normal I mean we are normal girls and plus I don’t want to scare him or any of them if there are more there. I just want to have a conversation with one of them and maybe have a friend.” I let out a soft laugh and stood up from the sofa, heading to the bedroom. “This has been an interesting night hasn’t it? Well I’m going to head to bed and sleep this off as I’m crashing from my sugar high.” I waved at her and Evelyn came after Aki, while we put away the things we bought, and settled down on our beds. Aki decided to read a book before heading to bed and as I read my eyes slowly got droopy before falling asleep with book on chest.
