First step: Be friendly with him, don't try to avoid him because your shy, start by having a friendly conversation.
Second step: Don't be shy!, he will think you don't like him if you don't say a word to him.
Third step: Get to know his friends, talk to them and maybe they can tell you some things about him.
Fourth step: After you both become friends, tell him about yourself, but don't try to look like your self absorbent, just tell him some interesting things.Like your abilities and favorite things to do.
