Splash!

My blanket was soaked, but what was worse was that my pajamas were soaked too and I had to admit that I wasn’t going to change until it was time to leave. Now I had to. The liquid that was poured onto my once sleeping body was ice cold.

“Rise and shine! It’s a wonderful day to enter the Capitol!” A woman barked into my ear. I was still half asleep so I couldn’t register who was shouting in my face, so I slapped them away out of instinct only to have that person sock me in the back of the head.

“Ouch!”

Once my vision cleared, I could see Annalise with a balled up fist and a scowl upon her face. “Don’t you hit me,” She sneered as if to threaten me.

I rolled my eyes. Honestly, I wasn’t afraid of her threat. She wouldn’t- no, she couldn’t- do anything to me. I was a tribute. Unless I seriously wronged the Capitol somehow, I was safe until I entered the arena.

My bed squished as I awkwardly slid out of bed. I began to shake off the excess water from my body, “What the hell did you pour on me?”

“Water…” She responded. I gave her a look. Water was nowhere near that blue. She looked in the bucket she held in her hand, “…I think it was water.”

My eyes looked at her in disbelief for a moment until there was a slight tinge on my skin and it began to grow in an almost stinging fashion. “Ow! Ow, Ow, Ow!” I squealed as I batted at my skin, hoping to stop the burning.

I couldn’t get to the bathroom fast enough. My hands began throwing off the clothes on my back, and then I ran to the faucet and switched it on. Annalise casually sauntered into the bathroom to inspect the shower.

She began to stroke her chin to make her seem as if she was thinking, “I always wondered what that sanitizer button did,” She muttered to herself.

“You bitch!” I yelled at her.

Annalise’s brown eyes stared at me indifferently. “Born one,” she shot back as a snappy response, “Get dressed, Thalia. We arrive in the Capitol in exactly-” she checked her digital watch, “-seventy three minutes.” With that said, she walked from my room.

I pulled a purple shirt over my head and pushed my arms into the shirt’s black sleeves. My body was still cold from the sterilizer Annalise drenched me with and the temperature of the train wasn’t helping either, so I made sure the shirt had sleeves. I found a pair of blue jeans that seemed they would fit me and tugged them up my legs to button them. Shoes were stuffed under the dresser and they varied in size. I chose out the beige slip on shoes and hoped they fit. They were a bit big, but I’d live.

When I sauntered into the diner car, the first person I spotted was Peeta. He didn’t seem happy either, but Haymitch let out a snort and a laugh despite Peeta’s pissed face. Annalise sat beside Haymitch and my eye was drawn to Effie’s purple attire beside Peeta. I took a seat and began piling food onto my plate. Even though the Capitol is despised by almost every one of the Districts, they had to give them credit for good food.

Effie automatically began her job, “As you know, we are arriving in the Capitol today!” She sang after sipping her purple juice, “I’m sure you’ll love your stylists. Titus and Seneca may be new, but from our conversations, they have very imaginative minds. Your outfits tonight will be superb!” She told me and Peeta. Was it bad that I was imitating her voice in my head? Effie then looked at Annalise, “As soon as you get off, the Peacekeepers will trail you again. Try not to open your mouth again.”

I had completely forgotten about the Peacekeepers that hovered over Annalise at the reaping. “What did you do?” Peeta asked the dark skinned woman.
