"They took everything from me. And they will know my pain. Only then will I stop. Only then can I stop."
The light pierced our little makeshift window, forcing my eyes open. Lifting the covers off me and raising my body as slowly as I could, I was startled by the all too familiar pain of her favorite frying pan upside my head. "You idiot! You're going to be late for your first day at U.A.!" Dammit, I hate when she gets like this.
"Oww Tami. You know what that does to me." I fully stood and realized I was as tall as her. Great. It was going to be a good minute before I could expel it. "Do it again and I may just kill you," I said imitating my hands around her throat. This only made her laugh and flip her hair.
"Yeah yeah Deontre. Now get to school before you get in trouble." She tossed me the uniform the academy assigned me with a playful smile. She always smiles. And that makes me smile. It still confuses me though. How she manages to be so happy despite everything that's happened. Despite everything those bastards did to us. But this wasn't the time to think about that.
"Alright big sis. I love ya so I'll kill you after school." I could feel the power still pushing through me. Just enough to make it to the front gates. I dashed out of the house at a speed I knew I could manage before blowing out. I had cleared almost two miles in the minute it took for the rest of my power to leave me. It was convenient that it did so before I got to the front entrance. No one needed to know what I could do or to what extent. Tami only told the academy that I had a strength enhancement quirk which, in of itself, isn't exactly a lie. That was all I showed during my personal exam.
Most attendees of U.A. got in because they passed the entrance exam or were recommended by their school. This wasn't the case for me. Multiple heroes had seen me using my time to help out the everyday citizens they may have accidentally neglected. Kite stuck in a tree, carrying groceries and supplies, or even just helping rebuild when a villain goes on a rampage. Despite not being in school for a couple years, I was given an invitation to enjoy the hero academy experience. I'm not entirely sure if the heroes recommended me out of admiration of my selfishness or out of guilt of their own impotence. I wouldn't put it past them but it didn't matter though. Here I stood at the beginning of my life.
"Well, time to get started I guess," I said walking inside. Before I could even take ten steps, I could feel the greatness basically resonating off of this place. Like a piece of every hero that had graduated still resided within these walls. It was truly a sight to behold. I was only brought back to reality by a hand resting on my shoulder.
"Umm...hello. Who are you?" I turned and realized that the feminine voice came from an obviously odd girl. Her hair resembled pink bananas hanging from a tree and her eyes. What was wrong with her eyes?"
"My name is Deontre. Who're you?" Her eyes look liked the scopes on guns in video games I used to play. I turned away, trying not to stare too much into them.
"I'm Mei Hatsume from the support class."
"The support class? I don't know what that is. Today's my first day."
"Oh well happy first day," she said raising her finger. "The support class is for those of us whose quirks wouldn't exactly be useful as a standalone hero. So we create equipment to better ourselves as well as other heroes." That was interesting. People who wholeheartedly acknowledged their disadvantages then plan and build around them. Their dedication to being heroes was remarkable.
"So do you think you can help me out? I'm looking for the 1-A Hero class."
"Wow, 1-A? You must be something to look out for. Yeah, I'll show you where you it is." She said turning and waving for me to follow her. This school was gargantuan and I was pretty sure without her guidance for the first couple days, I'd probably get lost. It would be best to have her around.
