Chapter 4

We woke up at 7am on the floor of Isabella's living room the other girls scattered around me I stretched accidently hitting Maisy who was on the Sofa and gave me a kick to the back as she turned over, the morning mist outside gave a cosy feel to being in front the dying fire which Isabella and I lit last night to keep warm, Isabella herself was stretched out like a cat long limbs poking out blanket hugging her curvy yet lean frame and dark chocolate hair fanned out behind her head also the way her eyelashes fluttered on her cheeks constantly surprising me when they didn't leave soot she was really pretty. Dany said a quite morning from the other side of the living room, her blue hair pulled into a messy bun though she was washed dressed and ready to go. Then it dawned on me HALLOWEEN it was today the party was today "EVERYBODY UP" I yelled possible a bit too loud as Maisy fell of the sofa and Isabella woke with a start Ester on the other hand pulled her hood around her head leaving bits of red hair poking out. We spent 10 minutes rushing around like chickens all avoiding the basement door though, in and out of Isabelle's room in and out the bathroom borrowing each other's things and Dany braiding hair nonstop. Once all of us to be ready completely I was last in the bathroom brushing out long golden wavy hair letting it fall around my face and finally I applied mascara over blonde eyelashes, huffing I step out of the bath room Isabella had done her make up too, so had Ester she was wearing her favourite lip colour 'rose gold on acid' while Isabella had a natural but flawless look on. Politely we asked Isabella's dad to give us a lift into town which he gladly agreed to grabbing our bags we headed out the door to buy Halloween costumes.

Town was the closest thing to a city shopping spree we could get and after some quick goodbyes we hurried to the Halloween dress up shop. The vast amount of costumes lined the walls and last-minute shoppers hurried around stands. Que cheesy trying on outfits movie scene we grabbed several outfits and tried them on settling for miss match theme of different people. We paid up and went to grab some coffee from the shop but Ester being the clumsy person she was tripped on the curd shock lasted about 5 seconds before we started laughing and stumbled our way into the coffee shop for warm beverages before heading back to get ready for tonight I hope I don't get drunk but I probably will but my mind kept wandering back to the vision we had yet to talk about talk about how we all saw a body.

The rushing had begun clothes everywhere makeup on counters and shouting "Charlie! Where is my perfume" Isabella yelled out I hold it out as she flies in and out super-fast taking it from me Dany was yelling at Ester to sit still and Maisy was fighting her leg warmers, I applied a generous amount of green lipstick to complete the outfit placing on my witches' hat and stepping out the bathroom door, the girls were mostly ready Isabella was dressed like Wonder Woman sword and all, she had her hair around her shoulders and a natural makeup look. Ester was a Supernatural fan girl, she had a "driver picks the music shot-gun shuts his cakehole" shirt, a flannel shirt over the top, shorts with ripped tights and biker boats. Her red hair sat in two French braids and a anti-possession tattoo as she called it was on her arm. Dany was a biker, she had leather jacket and trousers, big boots, a low cut black tee. Her hair was pulled back in a high ponytail and we had applied fake tattoos to her arms and back of her neck. Her makeup made her light blue eyes stand out and she wore big studded bracelets. Maisy an 80's sports instructor, she wore neon everything and big hair. Her makeup was so bright Dany joked about sunglasses at one point before receiving a playful glare. Maisy's mum lent her some big beaded necklaces too claiming she needed to look the part and I am a witch my dress was short, black lace and bounced around my mid things, I curled my hair and sprayed glitter in it, I also had a small pointy hat attached to an Alice band. My makeup was super smoky and my lipstick was green I felt evil and ready to party.

My parents were going to kill me if I got drunk but that wasn't stopping no one so with a shout and whoop we headed out the door for a good night. Once we arrived the Music was so loud it made my skin tingle and my lungs feel like mush. The music was as loud as thunder; it made the cutlery on the table tops rattle. Neon lights flashed everywhere like police sirens, but much more colourful. The bass thumped in time with my heart beat as if they were one, filling me head to toe with music. I love this song. Over the roar of music, a distant, hazy chatter could be heard. I couldn't make out any words, but laughter rang in my ears and wouldn't seem to stop. The song that was playing got louder, pulling me in and wouldn't let me go. I had no choice but to join the crowd I grabbing Isabella and Maisy's hands pulling them in too, jumping in a huddle group we jumped and danced like tic tacs in a shaken box bumping into our friend Wren who had drinks. The smell of alcohol was strong and I couldn't resist the pull of getting drunk to the point we cry about the little thing like being single last Valentine's day or how we would never let this moment go and danced with shoes off, raw feet and booking appointments at the hangover clinic. I wanted to remember this and be so drunk that I didn't, only till half way through the night where I am completely gone and my friends are all drunk do I feeling a small burn on my shoulder and my arm during a picture we took, it irritates me slightly making me drink more eventually not caring as beer clogs my vision and I lose all sight of that Maths test tomorrow morning damn. No-one can see the dance floor, it's wall to wall people dancing to the club music. There's no room for any more but somehow when Dany and I hit it the space magically comes. The music is all nineteen nineties but we're dancing like it's jive, twisting, turning, holding hands as we change sides. We're all grins, we look like idiots and we don't care. Inside we're just happy, happy and more alive than we can ever be in school. I feel the part of me that's really me come out to play, to feel the vibe of the music and let my body go free. One moment, one brilliant feeling of togetherness suspended in time. In ten years I'll still remember tonight, I love the quiet life but I relish the crazy fun times. Music, friends, good times, dance. Then I can focus in class, learn the facts, be the good girl. Can I help it of my soul loves a kickin' beat? My skirt swished around me as I swayed giggle with the girls about people like Anthony and Kristen who for the first time talked at us and it felt like we were popular, never mind that we were a hot mess and the best part was we knew it too. At the end of the night the dance floor would be like an abused chess board. On its black and white squares were spilled drinks and broken glass. With the lights, up for clean up the whole scene that had seemed so exciting and sexual only minutes before now had all the ambiance of a dirty toilet. The painted-on smiles of the staff were now sagged into the epitome of exhaustion and no-one could wait for the night to end. Ready for the night of the rest of our lives, whether that made sense or not I was too gone and it was too late to care.
