He held a gun against her head as I pointed one at him. It was completely silent except for Koras deep and shaky breaths.
"Put your gun down," he said in a teasing tone, "Put. It. Down. Or I put a bullet in your friends lovely skull here." He pushed the barrel into her temple even more as he spit out the threats like venom.
In his eyes were anger, menace, hatred, and...amusement. I was used to the anger and hate, but never had I seen a man enjoy the fear in others eyes this much.
It stunned me and made me lower my defences long enough for him to quickly lower his gun and shoot my leg, before I could process anything. The bullet hit dead center on my right thigh causing me to fall to the ground as well as drop my gun. He burst out into a loud and crazed laugh.
" You stupid girl. Did your parents never teach you to not mess with a crazy person?" He shook his head, enjoying every second of my agony.
In his hysterical state he forgot that I hadn't dropped the gun far from where I lay. I slowly reached for, and grabbed it just in time. He had seen my fingers grazing the handle and lunged at me as I grasped it.
I spun quickly and fired, without aim, into the direction he was attacking from. To my luck, it was a perfect shot to the heart. He dropped to the ground with a thump and Kora rushed to my side.
She helped me up and together we walked away, back home, where we would spend our days trying to forget that one.
