"My personality tends to be bright, but I do think there is fundamentally a part of me that withdraws. I like being alone and I tend to cry a lot. I also don't have friends. Once in a while, I'll be depressed and downcast, but in those moments I'll just stay at home. I don't make an effort to ignore or try to escape these emotions. I look it (depression) straight in the eye, cry my troubles away, and shake it off because it's not something to be ashamed of."

You knew as soon as your phone rang that something was wrong. All day you'd been having a feeling of unease, and that phone call was the peak.
"Jongin?"
Sniffles can be heard in the background, "Y/n."
"I'll be over in ten minutes, hang tight , okay?"
Another sniffle, "O-okay."
"And Jongin?" You pause, "I love you."
"I love you too," He mumbles, his voice deep and raspy.
Jongin didn't usually call you out of the blue. You knew it meant one of two things when he did: 1. He was worried / anxious 2. He wasn't feeling like himself.
This time, you could only assume it was both. Jongin was about to go on another world tour and was stressed to the max. He had to work on multiple choreography's, record a new album, set up schedules, and still have time for his personal life. It has been like this for a few weeks, which made you worry about Jongin's mental state. He was usually a strong person, but one person can only undergo so much until they break.
By now, you were halfway towards his apartment. It was late at night, somewhere around eleven or twelve. The streetlights filled your car with a bright orange light before they disappeared, only to be replaced again. Surprisingly enough, the streets were quiet. It was a Saturday night, weren't people usually out and about?
You pull up to the parking lot of Jongin's building, grabbing your small bag before getting out of your car. You lock it twice (just to be safe), before walking into the building.
You climb two stairs at a time, rushing to get to his floor. Lucky for you, he was on the third floor out of ten floors.
Making your way up the several flights of stairs, you quickly walk to his door, knocking firmly.
You hear a shuffle of footsteps before a lock clicks. You're greeted by your puffy eyed boyfriend, causing your heart to drop immediately. He stands to the side, allowing you into his home.
He closes the door and locks it, slowly turning around to you. His eyes are glossy and he looks as if he might cry again.
You quickly set your bag down and pull him into a hug. He lays his head on your shoulder, letting soft sobs shake his body.
You rub small circles into his back, closing your eyes so that your focus is only on him.
You both stay like that for a few minutes, allowing Jongin to get out bottled up emotions. But, eventually, he slowly breaks away, wiping his eyes.
You look at him with something between sympathy and affection, wanting to let him know you cared. He gives you a soft smile in return before leading you to the small sofa he has.
You take your shoes off, laying them beside the couch before pulling Jongin close to you. Eventually you end up with him laying on your chest. You play with his hair, taking the moment in as it came.
"Y/n... sometimes it all gets to be too much. I know that the 'idol life' is supposed to be stressful, but sometimes it becomes too much to handle," He murmurs.
You stay silent for a second, carefully thinking about your words before you respond.
"I can't say I know exactly how you feel, but I know what it's like. You aren't alone, Jongin, and I really want you to know that. I know when you're by yourself it might seem as if no one is by your side, but at the least... you have me. I'm so proud of how far you've come and I know you will succeed no matter what. I will support you through all of your ups and downs. I promise."
You see the ghost of a smile on his face as he stares at a wall.
"Y/n, I love you so much," He tells you, moving his head to look into your eyes.
"I love you too," You say, smiling at him.
"Promise?" He asks, smiling once more.
You nod, "Promise."
