"He is a mystery I want to solve"

Drew's POV

"Oh shit, Reece! We forgot about the ice-cream!!"

With that, we dashed upstairs, eager to see if the poor ice-cream survived. What? Don't judge. I love ice-cream!

We love ice-cream

By the time we got to the end of the stairs, I could hear Sasha panting. Is she serious? We barely ran, and she's out of breath?

Sheesh, for a very athletic person, you'd think she wouldn't bat an eyelid!

"Wait! Slow down Drew! Let me catch my breath" I heard Reece yell from downstairs.

When it comes to ice cream, every man for himself..

I dashed through the doors, leapt on my bed and looked for the ice cream. Noooooo, it was all melted! I hear Sasha come into the room.

"Is it ok? Do we have to take it to the doctor?" She asked worriedly.

"Yes, but first of all we have to get it an..." I turned around looked her dead in the eyes, and whispered.

"ice-essment"

We burst into laughter. Hah you get it? 'Ice-essment' and 'assessment' because, you know...

I'm actually quite proud of my joke!

We skipped downstairs and put both tubs of deliciousness into the freezer, where a very pleasing smell hit our nostrils. Mmm! Mom was making her special chicken with tangerine sauce! Yum! My mom's cooking is the best.

I spotted her juicing the tangerines in the far end of the kitchen. She looked so concentrated - her lips pursed, hair messily tied up, wearing her 'Austin is my favourite child' apron. Hmm I wonder who got that for her birthday?

*cough* Austin *cough*

"Hey mom, when's dinner ready?" I asked startling her a bit from her train of thought. Her hand flew to her chest, eyes widening.

"For goodness sake, Patience. Don't do that"

Cringe!

I can't believe she just called me Patience! My face twisted in disgust as I heard Reece chuckle to herself.

"Mooooom!" I whined. "Don't call me Patience!" I said as my hands flailed to my sides in annoyance.

"Then next time don't startle me! And what are you doing? You're not even dressed yet. The Griers and the rest of the Dawsons are coming over for dinner, I told you that before. Go get changed into something a little more..." She paused for a few seconds, eyeing my outfit. "...Decent" she finished with a shrug.

"What? What's wrong with my outfit?" I asked.

I looked down at my blue skinny jeans, my Forever 21 superman muscle tee (the black muscle tee, with the galaxy superman logo print on it), a bandeau (thankfully it covers my scar), and my black vans.

"There's nothing wrong with it sweetie, I just think you should wear something a little more formal or dinner-like for the evening. So go on cookie, go upstairs and change"

I moaned, not being bothered to change. I trudged out the kitchen with my shoulders slumped, linking my arm with Sash on the way out.

"Oh, and poppet, dinner will be ready in thirty minutes. You and Sash can greet our guests if I'm not ready in time"

"Mom, they're hardly guests!" I called back, and quickly walked upstairs, not wanting to make a fuss.
